Here we are again. Yet another NES title that I’ve heard off, but I never played. I don’t know anyone that has played this one either. My group of friends tackled a lot of various NES games, but this one never fell into our laps. There’s still so much NES goodness [...]

As the Bethesda blog conveniently points out, the entirety of Fallout 3's downloadable addendums -- from forays into virtual Alaska to intergalactic excursions -- are half off their normal asking price this week. At 400 MS Points ($5) a pop, you'll only be $25 less prepared for Fallout: New Vegas. No worries, though -- we're pretty sure the employees at your local GameStop will happily accept Nuka Cola bottlecaps in place of US currency should you be a few pennies short come October 19.

Ever since Guitar Hero and Rock Band made it big, there have been dozens of guitar peripherals released on the market. But, what makes You Rock Guitar different? It's actually a fully functional MIDI guitar, so you can use it as a real electric guitar when paired with a computer -- it also includes a built-in training mode, meant to teach you how to play guitar. Coupled with Rock Band 3, you might have a fighting chance at actually learning an instrument! With the included swappable cartridges, you can also turn it into a guitar controller compatible with PS3 and Wii.

To enter this giveaway:
  • Describe what you will do once you learn how to play a guitar. Open a band? Get a girlfriend? Fight demons?
  • You must be 13 years or older and a resident of the US or Canada (excluding Quebec).
  • Limit 1 entry per person.
  • This entry period ends at 12:00PM ET on Monday, October 4.
  • On Monday, October 4, we'll randomly select two winners to receive a You Rock Guitar with swappable Wii and PS3 cartridges (ARV $200). (This allows you to use the guitar as a controller on either system.)
  • For a list of complete rules, click here.

We've been hearing all about these 'social network' whozeewhatsits for some time now, but it was this week's release of The Social Network that pushed us over the edge -- apparently it's quite a hit with the kids! So we jumped in head first, with a FaceSpace (or whatever) account for posting our geothermal locations all over the world wide webs. We've already got so many followers!

Fortunately, we tired of the virtual narcissism for long enough to plunder seven fresh webcomics. Vote for your favorite just after the break!

On top of announcing an earlier than expected playlist update (coming this Tuesday), Bungie revealed last night that it has reset the credits and ranks of "approximately" 15,000 Halo: Reach accounts. The studio also applied a one day credit earning ban on affected players, less for punishment than to "ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken."

The resets were handled last evening and specifically targeted folks who employed "an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via itentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.)." Bungie will also be completing a "more comprehensive pass" later this week, after the studio is confident enough in its automated banning system. We're taking this move as further proof of the age old adage -- cheaters never win.

Fighting games have made a strong resurgence over the years, bringing back classic franchises like Marvel vs Capcom, Street Fighter and Tekken. But, what about Darkstalkers, Capcom's long-dormant 2D fighting series? While Capcom's Christian Svensson never dismissed the possibility, it seems as though the chances of a new iteration in the franchise are rather low. Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono told Eurogamer that making another game in the series would be his "ultimate dream." However, he says that only fan demand will cause it to happen.

"This is all up to the readers," Ono said. "They have to create the buzz. They have to tell us. They have to write the condition. They have to send in all these letters of plead. That is the only thing that will make Inafune-san nod." According to Ono, it will take one million requests before Inafune says yes. Unfortunately, not much progress has been made. When asked how many requests they've received so far, he said "we've got 5000."

You all have work to do.
