A GameTap representative has informed Joystiq that the "4100 Error" affecting some games should be fixed with the "new version" of the website releasing "by the end of October." GameTap's new website is part of the company's plan to feature "more recent titles," than continue the retro-games the service is known for.

According to GameTap, the 4100 Error plaguing over a dozen titles, "Occurs with games that were packaged with a progressive download technology that is no longer in use when packaging new games. We now use a more effective and recent technology for all our new games. We have also started during the summer to upgrade our back catalog with the new technology."

The update at the end of October will allegedly be more reliable and company expects it to eliminate the 4100 error. Regarding concerns that the errors were a sign that the service was ending, the representative stated plainly, "We are not ceasing our operations in the US."

[Thanks, Kyle B.]

Did you know that the PSP Go allows you to tether a PS3 controller to the handheld, effectively doing away with the portable nature of the device but arguably improving the feel of its controls? Maybe you didn't, largely because using a separate controller for a handheld device would be ... weird. Peripheral manufacturer Gametech Bear has come up with a way around this phenomenon -- it's created a device which physically adheres the PSP Go to a DualShock 3.

Gametech plans to release the peripheral by the end of the year in Japan at a price point of 2,980 yen (or $36). Though it actually attaches the controller to the handheld, you still have to use a Bluetooth connection to tether the two devices. Here's hoping it doesn't interfere with your DualShock 3's Bluetooth connection to your top-of-the-line FutureToaster.

If you've been waiting to get your hands on Explosionade on Xbox Live Indie Games, you're going to have to wait a bit longer. Already delayed once to fix a last-minute bug, Mommy's Best Games has delayed the game again until "Xbox Marketplace is less broken." Speaking out on the Mommy's Best Devlog, studio head Nathan Fouls claimed that the Xbox Live Indie Games' "Top Downloads" section on XBLM is broken, frequently failing to update properly.

According to Fouls, the Top Downloads section is often "stuck for days, sometimes over a week." With a broken Top Downloads section, said Fouls, Explosionade could miss out on the potential sales boost that featured games receive. He added that gamers may stop paying attention to the Top Downloads section altogether if they realize it doesn't update on a regular basis.

Explosionade has been delayed until Microsoft addresses the alleged problem. "If Top Downloads keeps getting stuck," said Fouls, "it's going to eventually impact developers and gamers and the [Indie Games] channel will suffer."

Let's acknowledge something you've probably already realized if you've been keeping up with the numerous trailers and previews for EA Canada's reboot of the NBA Jam franchise: Your enjoyment of the game will be exponentially enriched if you're familiar with the culture of the original. Midway's NBA Jam didn't just introduce standards that most modern basketball games still include in some manner or another -- it created a language which only the game's players could fully comprehend.

There's nothing wrong with the fact that EA Sports clearly targeted this community with the new NBA Jam by acknowledging the catchphrases, over-the-top maneuvers and arcadey gameplay of Jam the First. In fact, it's a testament to the undying strength of that original formula that EA Canada's attempts to tack new material on to it largely fall flat.

We were just about to accuse Sony of selling us a false bill of goods with Sports Champions -- the demo shown at last year's E3 featured sword fighting against skeletons, a feature left absent in the final version of the game. All we want is to hit skeletons with bladed weapons! Fortunately, a handful of ghoulish opponents will be added to the Move launch title in the "Haunted" DLC pack, due out on the PSN this Tuesday.

The pack, which will run shoppers $4.99, includes three new undead-themed playable characters and sports equipment, such as the "Skull Bocce Set" and "Skeleton Sword and Shield." Check out the full list of content in the pack after the jump, or a few screenshots of said content in the gallery below.
