Konami has announced four titles for the 3DS in Europe, including Pro Evolution Soccer, Frogger, Contra, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Peace Walker. Of those, we've seen screens or video of precisely one, Peace Walker, with the others first revealed as in development during E3.

The non-Metal Gear games haven't been shown, although it's worthwhile to know that a) they're still in development, and b) Konami already plans to release them in Europe. Plus, it doesn't take a huge leap of intuition to figure out what kind of games Contra, Pro Evolution Soccer, and Frogger will be.

#clips It took me more than forty hours to play through From Software's dark dungeon crawler Demon's Souls, which now seems rather foolish, after having watched someone sprint through the role-playing game in less than an hour. More »

When Valve first unleashed its Steam digital distribution service nearly eight years ago, we can't imagine the company anticipated the kind of growth it's seen. Valve announced this morning that Steam account holders top 30 million in number, and the service has seen its sixth straight year of over 100 percent growth in unit sales versus the previous year.

This year's account numbers have seen near 200 percent in growth as well, swelled at least in part by the addition of Mac OS X to Steam's list of supported operating systems. Steam's virtual infrastructure has been bolstered as well, with Valve claiming it now has "enough bandwidth to ship a digitized version of the Oxford English Dictionary 92.6 times per second." In case it wasn't clear, that translates to butter smooth Team Fortress 2 matchmaking.

Mad Catz has created FightPad and FightStick accessories for fighting games like Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. It has now announced a partnership with THQ to produce ... WWE-branded FightSticks and FightPads, for the upcoming WWE All Stars game. All Stars is supposed to be more arcade-like and feature "combination sequences" (according to its original announcement), so ... no, this just isn't going to make sense no matter how hard we try.

Mad Catz intends to produce the accessories for PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii, which means that if you missed out on the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom FightStick, you'll have another chance to get a Wii arcade stick, albeit one with pictures of wrasslers all over it. Mad Catz has declined to offer images or specific details for the devices, so we're just going to have to dream for now.

To think that Kirby almost never was makes me really appreciate that the little guy is around today. He’s become one of Nintendo’s most lovable mascots, but at one point in time he was nothing more than a placeholder character. Thankfully someone fell in love with that placeholder art so much that he [...]

There’s just something so old-school about the covers of Tips and Tricks magazine. I’ve never purchased an issue in my life, but I always like the cover art. Simple, cheesy, yet really fun!

Sid Meier's Civilization 5 is set to expand later this month with two new downloadable packs. The turn-based strategy game will toss you into a hexagon with Genghis Khan in the "Mongols Civilization and Scenario Pack," which sees you unfurling his Asian empire across the globe. The pack is due on October 25th and comes, according to 2K Games, as a free "gift to the legions of Civ fanatics." (Don't mess with them, they're really well organized.)

If you'd also like to align yourself with Babylon's King Nebuchadnezzar II, you'll want to download the "Babylonian Civilization Pack," due on October 25th for $4.99. It even comes with a bit of a turn-based tongue twister: Babylonian Bowmen. Try saying it three times: "Believe Blue Babylonian Bowman Bellow!"

Okay, after watching this eight-minute Yakuza: Of the End gameplay trailer, we can now think of the game in a different way. Our bemusement is reduced and our interest increased. Instead of a really strange Yakuza game, we now look at it as a cheesy zombie game with great production values -- like Onechanbara, but less embarrassing and with a better budget. Kamurocho is still a great setting for games, and now it's a setting for a zombie game!

Well, maybe it's just marginally less embarrassing. For some reason, the dating, hostess club, table tennis, and mahjong minigames are still present -- and for some reason, Goro Majima finds an opportunity to sing. With backup dancers.

Majyuuou never saw release outside of Japan…officially. There’s a fan-translation out there, and from what I can tell, the game seems like it might interest a few gamers on this side of the world. It certainly seems engaging, but probably would have ended up a bit forgettable in the grand scheme of things. Article [...]
