Repeat after me: This is a sport simulation. This is a sport simulation. This is a sport simulation.

If you come to EA Sports MMA for a button-mashing brawl, you're sure to be disappointed. However, if you want to test your fighting skills in a surprisingly deep and precise recreation of the sport of mixed martial arts, you're in for a treat.

Wait ... you're telling us that of all of the PSOne blockbusters that have made it onto the PlayStation Store, the original Twisted Metal hasn't actually made its arrival yet? We weren't aware of this surprising fact until we noticed that the ESRB recently slapped a Teen rating on the series' first installment, due out on the PS3 and PSP -- the usual indication that a title is awaiting release on the PSOne Classics platform.

Seriously, we could have sworn that Twisted Metal was already readily available on the PSN. Is it possible that -- oh, wait a minute. We see what we did here. We confused Twisted Metal with Bomberman Fantasy Race again. Our bad!

Android users must really, really hate those green pigs -- Rovio Mobile, developer of the iOS über-hit Angry Birds, has tweeted that two million Android users have downloaded the app on that platform since it was released just three short days ago. The app has reached 6.5 million sales on the iPhone's App Store, but the Android version is a free download, supported with in-app advertising. The free "lite" version on iPhone has seen 11 million downloads so far.

Rovio has reiterated that a paid version of the app (with advertising removed) is still on the way, and its Twitter account also states they're working on QVGA support and support for other Android devices as well. No matter what they add in the future, two million downloads is a great way to start off on any platform.

#earthbound The Mother series, known in the West as Earthbound, are some of the best games to ever grace a Game Boy. They're so good, in fact, that Nintendo of America wants nothing to do with them. More »

Days like this, I'm happy we review experiences rather than products here at Joystiq.

How could I hope to evaluate the worth of Fallout: New Vegas, a full-price game that's graphically and mechanically practically identical to another game that was released two years ago? How could I tell you whether or not it's an insult that you're being asked to pay $60 for a game that's so technically deficient that it scarcely feels past the beta stage?

Luckily, we're talking about the experience, and that's easy enough. If you loved Fallout 3, you're going to love this. If you hated it or weren't interested enough to give it a shot, you're going to be more confused than ever what all the fuss is about.

Going from the barebones outline seen above to the top of the iTunes App Store in approximately 16 months, Matt Rix's Trainyard is a runaway success. Rix details the game's development -- and astronomical sales -- on his blog, showing its humble beginnings scribbled in a notepad, development delays due to his other job (he developed Trainyard at home in his personal time), and how the birth of his son allowed him to finish the game last May.

He also delves into the relatively small amount of money he made from Trainyard early on, and how offering a free version of the game (Trainyard Express) dramatically drove sales. "I released Trainyard Express on September 30th ... A day later, an editor at a prominent Italian blog discovered the game and wrote a fantastic article about it. The game shot up the Italian charts and quickly became the #1 free app in Italy, netting 22,795 downloads in its first day at #1. Along with the Express downloads, the paid sales in Italy also started getting higher, and within a day of reaching #1, I had beaten my single-day launch profit record of $140 with $240 in a single day. It was awesome to know that the up-sell was working."

More importantly, however, word started spreading of the train-based puzzle game and soon the free version was charting in the UK. So much so, in fact, that Apple contacted Rix to feature his game in the iTunes paid apps list -- he describes the effect it had by saying, "It's like winning a lottery, but a lottery where you work really really hard to buy your ticket." Most recently, Rix has dropped the price of Trainyard "for a short time" to $.99 (from $2.99), resulting in his game beating out Angry Birds for the number two spot in the US. Perhaps fittingly, Rix even has a humble reaction to the monstrous success of his recent sale: "Mission accomplished."

Head over to Rix's blog entry for his far more thorough account (not to mention an adorable picture of his baby son -- congrats, Matt!), and check out Trainyard in action after the break or head to iTunes to pick it up.

There are no doubt certain sticklers for authenticity who have problematized the spread of zombies in next week's Red Dead Redemption add-on Undead Nightmare. "The undead simply do NOT belong in the heretofore historically accurate RDR canon. Period," reads one hypothetical tweet, which might echo the thoughts of others.

Perhaps giving voice to these naysayers, GameSpot has questioned Rockstar boss Dan Houser on the matter. "We wanted the game world to feel like a 1970s movie set," Houser explained, "in which by day people shot a serious revisionist Western and by night some maniacs invaded the studio and filmed a somewhat insane horror movie using the same sets and cast."

Well, good, that certainly closes the book on the issue for us -- though we do wonder about Houser's suggestion that "it simply was not what people expected." We've been pretty much stockpiling weapons in heated anticipation of a zombie apocalypse at least since '02. Now, if you'd thrown a transforming steam-powered hovertrain locomotive that flies through time at us? That would've been totally unexpected, not to mention an accepted fact of revisionist history.
