Available nationwide at participating retailers for $99 (MSRP), this new bundle combines the PS2 system with Toy Story 3: The Video Game, which lets players help Buzz, Woody and the rest of the Toys ensure no toy gets left behind.

Nearly 10 years since it first launched, the PS2 continues to be a force in gaming and to date is in more than 146 million homes worldwide. At $99, the PS2 provides great entertainment value for new gamers and families with its built-in DVD player and a deep library of more than 2,000 games. Be sure to mark your calendars for October 31 and enjoy!

Though Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton's first in-game face-off was just announced for 3DS, Layton has already triumphed over the plucky defense attorney in another arena: game sales. Capcom and Level-5 noted life-to-date sales for both series in the announcement of the title, and Professor Layton trounces the Ace Attorney series with 9.5 million units sold worldwide, versus Ace Attorney's 3.9 million.

That 3.9 million includes a lot of versions of the same games. Since the first Phoenix Wright's release in Japan in 2001, the five games have been released on Game Boy Advance, PC, DS, mobile phones, iPhone, and WiiWare. The four Professor Layton games have only been released once each on DS, with a couple of original games on Japanese cell phones. However, Layton has Nintendo marketing behind it in the west, with Nintendo pushing the puzzle games to audiences beyond the core gamer set.

Even though this game announcement was beyond effective with fanboys (we know from, um, reading comments and not personal experience at all!), the two companies still have audience expansion in mind. "We feel that by drawing upon the strengths of both series, this collaboration will bring new, casual game players to the adventure game genre and into the world of gaming in general while strengthening the value of the two brands overall."

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light owners will finally discover online co-op on Xbox when the long-awaited patch is implemented October 27. Crystal Dynamics just announced the news and noted that the update for PS3 and PC is "coming later, stay tuned."

The company also reiterated that the first DLC pack would be free "to say thanks for your patience." Guardian of Light was one of the standout downloadable titles of the summer, despite missing a key feature at launch. It was originally intended to be patched in during September, but Lady Croft slept in and missed the date.

Have you ever dreamed of having the original cover art from a video game hanging on your wall? How about the original cover art from Digital Pictures' Sega CD vampire-hunting game, Night Trap? If so, passion burns and danger calls you to eBay where, for around $250 (the current bid), you can own the 15" by 25" painting used for the Sega CD box, retrieved from Sega of America's art department.

If you're not sure whether you want this real gaming history for yourself, mull it over while you watch Night Trap's party scene, after the break.

Sega's next batch of high-definition Dreamcast ports (following Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure) is a good reminder of the failed console's eclectic and enduring selection of games. The first has reeled in hundreds of scaly creatures who can only stare vacantly at their captor, mouths agape -- the other one is Sega Bass Fishing.

According to Eurogamer, the all-singing, all-dancing Space Channel 5 Part 2 will arrive on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in "early 2011," alongside the aforementioned aquatic catch-em-up. Interestingly, Sega has never published Space Channel 5 Part 2 in North America. The Dreamcast version never made it out of Japan, and a PlayStation 2 port -- bundled with the first game as Space Channel 5: Special Edition -- was released in America by Agetec.

Overseen by Rez and Child of Eden designer Tesuya Mizuguchi, Space Channel 5 was unique in melding a goofy story with rote rhythm-based mechanics. Part 2 ditched the first game's pre-rendered video backdrops and added instrument battles, impromptu singing showdowns and expanded on the original's catchy, Austin-Powers-in-space music.

What's that? You needed more than 54 minutes (portrayed in following videos) to beat the notoriously difficult dungeon crawler? That's cute. (Warning: Don't watch these videos if you don't want the game spoiled!)
