What's that? You say you want another Japanese shooter on your Xbox 360? Well, SNK Playmore is happy to oblige! The company has announced that its bringing Trouble Witches Neo to Xbox Live Arcade. Andriasang notes that Trouble Witches originated on PC back in 2007 and was brought to arcades in 2009. It features witches -- presumably troublesome ones -- shooting up baddies in a 2D side-scrolling environment. Trouble Witches Neo includes an additional character Sakurako Kujou, new modes and some sort of Xbox Live support (which could be nothing more than leaderboards).

Trouble Witches Neo is expected to release this winter for 800 MS Points ($10). Siliconera also notes that the game has been rated both by Germany's USK and the Australian Classification Board, so it appears it will be released outside of Japan as well. See gameplay of the original version after the break.

Okay, we think we understand most of the motion-sensing controls demoed in the Sonic Free Riders trailer posted below, but -- man, are we going to have to bend our backs that far in order to adequately hover-race? We're not sure we ... hold on, we'll try. (oh god doctor call a doctor)

To say Onimusha and Dino Crisis are on the back burner at Capcom could be an understatement. They're probably not even at Capcom and likely at the appliance store, sitting in the back playing cards, waiting to deliver the actual oven. In short: we haven't seen 'em and we're not sure when we will again.

Capcom's VP of strategic planning and business development, Christian Svensson, provided IGN with some insight into Capcom's two franchises. You see, while earlier entries in those franchises were successful, later iterations weren't. According to the company, each provide their own set of challenges: Onimusha is a brand that resonates with Japanese audiences, but Capcom's pushing for more Westernized games right now, while Dino Crisis has the unfortunate problem of nobody at the company having "a burning desire" to "light that franchise back up again."

One thing we would've liked to see Svennson discuss is DmC: Devil May Cry. Ninja Theory's reboot doesn't just have the future of that particular franchise riding on it, but could determine how other companies handle -- or don't handle -- revitalizing an older brand for a new audience.

Gamasutra recently pieced together NPD data for the first nine months of 2010 to give us a look at the top-selling software of the year so far. Though the data doesn't combine the sales of multiplatform titles -- which might affect the landscape of the chart -- the results are a little perplexing. (And not just because half of the games therein were released in 2009.)

Halo: Reach is leading the pack so far, followed by New Super Mario Bros. Wii, which is so, so old. Also, the 360 version of Red Dead Redemption made the list, but not the PS3 version. Even more confusing than that: Pokémon SoulSilver made the list, while Pokémon HeartGold did not. What earthly reason could there possibly be for that? Did consumers think that gold would be more gaudy than silver?

If your performance in StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty isn't where you'd like it to be, perhaps it's because your controllers aren't glowing enough. Sure, the StarCraft 2-branded Spectre mouse, Marauder keyboard and Banshee headset from Razer (all designed in collaboration with Blizzard) have other features that make them well-suited for games -- like specialized configuration utilities and quick response times -- but those aren't why anyone would buy one of these. Cool backlighting is.

Besides, when the keyboard description lists things like "Optimized Key Travel Distance" as a selling point, "pretty lights" doesn't seem like such a minor thing to latch on to. The set will be released in the US, Europe and Korea in November, with the mouse retailing for $80 (€80/94,800 won), and the keyboard and headset for $120 (€120/142,800 won) each.

Coming from Nintendo Power’s table of contents… We haven’t heard any information on any of these titles getting localized. No companies have come forth to say that they are publishing these titles outside of Japan. Is Nintendo Power just doing a simple preview, or do they have an inside scoop?
