The reaction to Dante's new look for the Devil May Cry reboot had Capcom asking, "Why so serious?" The publisher's VP of Strategic Planning and Biz Dev. Christian Svensson told IGN that the company knew Dante's new look would bring a "knee-jerk reaction from fans." He said, "To be fair, I think some of the strategy here was to create that discussion and dialogue, and I think it drastically raises the visibility of the title versus if we had just done another Dante."

He explained the original concepts that came back for the new Dante were too close to the flamboyant source material. Capcom's Keiji Inafune and Hideaki Itsuno weren't having none of that and told the team to, according to Svensson, be "much more creative." Svensson explains that, "This is meant to be an origin story, so this is Dante before you knew who Dante was." Wait, you mean he was more than that guy with the white hair, wearing a red leather trench coat? Surprising, 'cause that's all we can seem to remember about him.

GameStop has announced that its PowerUp Rewards program, which offers various bonuses to card-carrying loyal customers, is now available in all retail locations across the country. For those who missed the specifics of the program when it was dreamed up earlier this year, customers can now sign up for a free or a $15-per-year "Pro" membership -- both give Rewards points (exchangeable for gift cards, Netflix or Xbox Live subscriptions and other freebies), but only the latter comes with a discount on pre-owned goods and a subscription to Game Informer magazine.

To celebrate the program's nationwide rollout, GameStop has gussied up its NASCAR ride with a sweet custom paint job, featuring an airbrushed wizard and some fire and ... well, just the name of the program, actually. Which is less exciting. Perhaps they could add the chart posted after the jump, which breaks down the two tiers of PowerUp Rewards membership, as a bitchin' decal?

In case you needed more of a reason to want Red Dead Redemption's upcoming "Undead Nightmare" DLC than zombie bears -- excuse us, Zombears -- this just might be it. Rockstar has released a trailer focusing on the new content's co-op "Undead Overrun" multiplayer, and it might strike you as a little familiar.

In it, you and your posse take on waves of the infected, while trying to reach a safehouse survive until the timer runs out. Weapons and ammo must be "chosen wisely" at the outset (though more can be rummaged from coffins) and fallen amigos can be revived, provided you get to them fast enough. See it for yourself in the amusingly narrated trailer after the break. We'd try to rhyme like its narrator, but it would probably come out something like this: "Undead Overrun is a lot of fun." (Wait -- that sounds like one of his actual lines.)

In addition to the trailer, Rockstar has revealed that the DLC will bring with it 12 additional Achievements / Trophies, our favorite of which is "Smoke That Skinwagon," unlocked by making it to wave 15 of the Undead Overrun mode. You can browse the full list here, unless it's spoilers you fear.

Know why you should be excited for November 2nd? No, not because it’s the 63rd anniversary of the first (and only) flight of the Spruce Goose, and not even because it’s Stefanie Powers’ birthday.

November 2nd is the day that HOARD drops on PSN for PlayStation 3! And as big a deal as this is for you, imagine how important it is for dragon-kind! Their story is finally out!

For those of you living in a cave (on a pile of gold?) over the last few months, HOARD is Big Sandwich Games’ dual-stick action-strategy game about dragons gathering treasure. Players roam over a medieval kingdom, burning villages, kidnapping princesses, slaying knights, and otherwise causing mayhem…all in the quest for the shiny stuff.

HOARD will sell for $14.99, and include over 35 unique maps across 4 game modes (Treasure Hunt, Princess Rush, Survival, and Co-op). With the inclusion of leaderboards and a comprehensive rewards system featuring over 100 badges to earn (and full trophy support), there is easily over 20+ hours of gameplay waiting for you. That’s like 1 cent per minute! The phone companies could never give this much value to you!

Get involved in the HOARD community at www.hoardgame.com, and make us feel part of the Social Network by becoming a fan on Facebook!

We look forward to seeing you online on November 2nd, although let’s be honest—it will be sad to see our leaderboard positions drop!

Scribblenauts developer 5TH Cell is about to reveal its next game, which it has been teasing for almost a year -- but there's a bit more teasing to do before that happens. The developer posted a seven-day countdown for the title on its site, revealing in a press release that the end of the countdown -- Thursday, October 28 at 10pm PDT -- will coincide with the reveal of the new title on Spike TV. A brief teaser will also be shown tonight.

According to the press release, the game will be "a completely new experience for Xbox Live Arcade players." 5TH Cell's Jeremiah Slaczka has previously told Joystiq that the company's next original game would use the Source Engine. We'll find out more in ... seven days, and counting.

With his rotund shape and waddling gait, we would never consider Kirby to be a particularly hasty creature -- still, we never would have expected his latest adventure, Kirby's Epic Yarn, to take months to reach European and Australian territories. Nintendo Australia recently confirmed that the title, released earlier this month in the U.S. and Japan, would see 2011 launch in PAL regions. (Online retailer Play suggests that it'll only arrive in March.)

In the months between, a dedicated European fan could probably recreate the game using actual yarn. Hey, why hasn't anyone done that yet? Get crafty, you guys.
