With the ever-approaching threat of winter's chill approaching ... everly, we've begun to take stock of the garments which will protect us from the season's harshest temperatures. Which brings us to the query of the week: Where's all the gaming-related homemade articles of clothing? Where's the Noby Noby Boy scarves? The Mega Man toboggans? The woolen Sackboy-themed full-body suit?

So what that there's not feet of snow on the ground already -- we're ahead-planners, and we'd like to start planning ahead. Give us our Guitar Hero neck warmers, or give us ... cold necks, we guess.

Back in our day, the mo-cap process for GoldenEye 007 required a single shot of a dude chopping his hand in a 90 degree arc. Apparently, the remake requires a bit more work than that. Get to know the new Bond's stuntman in the developer's diary posted just below.

Team Ninja has repeatedly proven itself to be one of the great reformers of fast-paced hyperviolent action games -- it should come as no surprise that the studio's new leader, Yosuke Hayashi, has a few things to say about the broader changes affecting the industry. In an interview with Gamasutra, Hayashi discussed his feelings on the way Team Ninja has been operating post-Metroid: Other M, as well as how the studio feels about new motion control technology and the 3DS.

The studio has a vested interest in the latter, having recently announced an entry into the Dead or Alive franchise on the eye-popping handheld. Hayashi explained the studio is "having fun" figuring out how to effectively use the 3D display -- though he figures gamers familiar with the franchise are expecting more than a bit of 3D ... jiggling. Of the fighters' ... assets. Why, we would never, sir.

Check out the full Gamasutra interview for more of Hayashi's thoughts on the industry big trends.

There were a lot of questions asked, and a few nuggets of useful and intriguing information gleaned. Let's take a look at some of the highlights.

Blizzard announced that it will be continuing to support StarCraft 2 and its community with the release of four developer-created mod maps. All four of the maps were on display at BlizzCon 2010, and all but one are parodies of existing gameplay concepts. In creating these mods, StarCraft 2's developers said during a panel on Friday that they were aiming not only to show off what the game's editor can do, but to put really push its limits to see where they had work to do on it.

I played all four of the mods, from the complex Left 2 Die to the silly-but-addictive Aiur Chef. All of them, along with their textures and assets, will be released inside the StarCraft 2 community for free, available to play by anyone who owns the game.

Playing Diablo 3 is like being a little kid again with a pile of birthday presents laid out before you. You race to get to the next monster, environment and level-up, tearing and ripping and cutting everything open in a mad dash, hellbent on one thing: the precious gold and XP inside. The previous Diablo games, both undisputed classics, were frantic click-and-loot fests with an action RPG sheen, but Diablo 3 ups the frenzy quotient further, blessing every single click with satisfaction both instant and deep.

The game's matured a bit since we saw it last year -- the build at BlizzCon this weekend showed off the game's final class, the Demon Hunter (or "Huntress," in this demo), as well as a new 3-vs-3 arena mode and an updated UI system. There's still a lot of work to be done, but the development is definitely progressing, and the game's core gameplay is up and running. And it is as rewarding as video games get.

Yesterday afternoon at BlizzCon, Blizzard's own Starcraft 2 masters Dustin Browder, Greg Canessa, David Kim and Matt Cooper gathered to host the Secrets of the Masters panel. Seasoned Starcraft veterans won't glean much from the information they had to offer, but that's okay -- Dustin Browder himself made it clear that this panel was just for the noobs.

That being said, the panel kicked off with Greg Canessa explaining how the Battle.net leagues and ladders system really worked behind the scenes, which is information even veterans wanted laid out nice and clear. He also went on to explain a few new features coming to Battle.net aimed specifically at the most hardcore of the hardcore Starcraft 2 players.
