Regardless of the game's title, we actually do know a little bit more this morning about You Don't Know Jack's triumphant return. THQ has confirmed the game will be heading to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii and DS on January 25, 2011. Unlike the recent GameStop listing, no mention is made of Kinect regarding the game on Xbox 360. We're still hoping against all odds that the game will ship with a full-size PC keyboard, replete with finger-worn keys and shoddily placed YDKJ stickers.

Unlike the Wii and DS versions, the PS3 and 360 games will support online multiplayer. Every version of the game will include "classic quiz modes" in "DisOrDat" and "Jack Attack," not to mention new modes like "Wrong Answer of the Game" wherein, presumably, the goal is to get questions wrong. We're especially glad to hear about that new mode, considering YDKJ losses are really our forte.

If you're in the market for a new PS3 with more storage capacity than your entire extended family would ever need throughout the fullness of time -- but you don't want to purchase a Move controller along with your big-brained console, you're in luck. Sony is currently shipping the 320GB PS3 (previously only available in a $399.99 PlayStation Move hardware bundle) to the appropriate retailers, sticking it with a $349.99 price tag.

Of course, acquiring the money required to purchase the console is the easy part. Finding enough ways to fill up its expansive hard drive so that you don't feel like you wasted said money will be significantly more difficult. Might we suggest copying over your entire MP3 music library from your computer ... eight or nine times?

This past summer, many of you took part in our latest MAG Beta program to help us test out a number of new features slated for our recently-released update, MAG 2.0, and future DLC. Thanks to your devotion, we gathered a surplus of fantastic data that allowed us to make MAG a better game… and we’re not done yet!

Though the MAG 2.0 patch has been available since the end of September, the DLC portion of the beta has remained unreleased — but not for too much longer. Starting November 2, our three-faction gunplay whirlwind, the “Escalation” Add-on Pack, will be available for download from the PlayStation Store for $9.99 (US)!

But we aren’t stopping there.

To celebrate the release of the Escalation DLC, we’re offering two other deals to existing and would-be fans. Check this out:

  • Interdiction Add-on Pack: Now $4.99 (US); reduced from original price of $9.99 (US)
  • MAG Starter Kit: $14.99 (US): An almost $30 (US) value and everything new MAG users could want: Interdiction and Escalation Add-on packs, a 30-day trial for MAG character slots B and C, six official MAG PS3 avatars that sport Raven, SVER, and Valor characters and badges, and three dynamic PS3 themes (one for each PMC).

If you didn’t get a chance to play it in our MAG Beta, the Escalation add-on supports up to 96 players, or one 32-man platoon for each PMC, as a separate in-game mode that pits the forces of Raven, SVER, and Valor against each other at the same time. The aspirations for each PMC is to earn the requisite number of points before time runs out or, if time does expire, to have the most points overall. Whichever team meets this goal wins the map and additional Shadow War points.

Escalation gameplay is set up in two phases: For phase one, all three teams battle to hold the map’s A, B and C objectives — but when any of the three PMCs gains control of two of the three objectives, phase two begins. In this second phase, the original three objectives are locked and a new fourth objective (D) opens up. Now, the PMC that forced the phase shift must defend objective D against both attacking groups as long as possible; if D is lost, then play reverts back to phase one again and the war continues on until we have a winner or time runs out.

As beta players have already seen, Escalation offers three completely different environments (maps) to the MAG universe, including the volcanic beaches “Isla de Magma,” the mountainous “Silverback Ridge,” and the desert wasteland of “Radiant Barrens.” As an added bonus, our new add-on pack isn’t just made up of new maps – there are also nine previously-unavailable weapons we’re throwing into the mix too:

Raven: Gotha Elite (Assault Rifle) | KP21 (Machine Gun) | Kinmark SRS (Sniper Rifle)
SVER: Tamsen MK2 (Assault Rifle | Ariet SFW (Machine Gun) | Rubakho SVR (Sniper Rifle)
Valor: M31 CIR (Assault Rifle) | M245 (Machine Gun) | Sentinel M421 (Sniper Rifle)

If this sounds like your brand of DLC fun, we’ll see you again on November 2!

The Killzone 3 site unveiled the game's $130 "Helghast Edition," which only makes Killzone's perceived status as Sony's Halo equivalent more pronounced. For example, Halo 3's "Legendary Edition" included a miniature Spartan helmet, and Killzone 3's Helghast Edition includes -- surprise -- a miniature Helghast helmet.

The helmet "opens to reveal art book, Super Voucher and Killzone 3 game." That "Super Voucher" grants access to a soundtrack, a dynamic theme, a Retro Map Pack of two Killzone 2 maps, and full weapon and ability access and double XP for the first 24 hours of multiplayer. In addition to all that, there's an even smaller Helghast in the package -- a 6.5-inch "Cloaking Helghast" figure.

Notably absent from the package: "Helghast goggles," the "Blood and Thunder" pack, or a gift card, as revealed on the Killzone 3 site last week. Either that stuff is reserved for a European special edition, or it was merely placeholder text.

Capcom is gettin' by, as the publisher announced that sales were up 4.7 percent, with net profit down 39.9 percent, during the first half of fiscal year 2010, ending March 31, 2011. The publisher also announced that Jun Takeuchi can now add "Corporate Officer" to his already outrageous title of "Deputy Head of Consumer Games R&D Division and General Manager of R&D Production Department." Think that title sounds serious in English? Check it out in Japanese: 執 行 役 員CS開発副統括 兼 制作部長.

Net sales reached ¥40.7 billion ($501M) during the six-month period ending September 30, 2010, thanks to the release of Dead Rising 2 and continued sales of Super Street Fighter IV. The publisher also stated that Sengoku BASARA: Samurai Heroes and Monster Hunter spin-off Monhan Nikki Pokapoka Airu Mura shipped over 500 thousands units apiece. These titles helped push that 4.7% increase in sales over the same period last year. Overall, Capcom states sales were stagnant due to the late release of Dead Rising 2 and the "substantial underperformance" of Lost Planet 2.

Due to the sales issues, net profit for the first half was ¥1.7 billion ($22 million, down 39.9%). The company forecasts it'll end the fiscal year next March with sales of ¥91 billion ($1.1 billion) and a net income of ¥6.5 billion ($80 million).

The dead will roam the earth starting January 11, 2011, to inhabit our donut carts and cabinet doors. Or at least one dead guy will ... in a DS game. January 11 is the newly revealed North American release date for Capcom's Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, in which an amnesiac ghost named Sissel solves his own murder and prevents the murder of others by manipulating objects (which, in turn, manipulate people).

While we would have preferred a Halloween release date for the ghostly game (because it would have been sooner), at least Capcom came through with a seasonally appropriate Halloween release date announcement.

We're not sure who's fiddling with all the levers and knobs at Xbox Live Arcade headquarters, but we've received a second day of new releases this week. Call it XBLA Thursday. Bloody Good Time and Haunted House were initially expected -- and then rejected -- to arrive on Wednesday, but it appears they needed another day to cook (or get out of Game Feast's way).

You can now explore Haunted House for 800 MS Points ($10) or, if you prefer, have a Bloody Good Time for the bargain price of 400 MS Points ($5).
