Electronic Arts has announced that its FIFA soccer franchise has reached sales of over 100 million units during its 18-year-long lifetime, and that's a lot of virtual soccer balls. FIFA Soccer 11 helped push the series over the century mark, selling 2.6 million copies in its first five days, making it the fastest selling sports video game of all time.

To celebrate, EA is giving this year's version of its tie-in management game, FIFA 11 Ultimate Team, away for free along with the main game. Last year, the DLC was sold for an extra charge, but in FIFA 11, players can download the new mode for free, and it features both an enhanced multiplayer mode where players can pit their teams against each other, as well as a full-featured web app to auction and trade players outside of the console title.

That's pretty drop-kickin' awesome if you ask us. If you own FIFA 11 on the Xbox or PS3, you can pick Ultimate Team up for free from the in-game menus right now.

#ea As expected, EA today revealed a new game in the Battlefield series, and as expected, it's part of the publishers Play4Free line of PC games that let you, well, play for free. More »

Battlefield: Bad Company 2's downloadable Vietnam expansion will bring four new maps, 15 weapons and six vehicles into the first-person fray this Winter. The latest trailer is presented without release date, but does highlight just how you'll find release for all those weekly anxieties. As dear Alfred says, some men just want to watch the world burn.

If you decide you'd like to continue playing the two multiplayer-centric titles once this esteemed holiday has come and gone, you can purchase both titles this weekend in a single bundle, at the significantly reduced price of $12.49. Or, in frontier currency, two pounds of rabbit meat and a medium-sized wagon wheel. What a bargain!

The Capcom Arcade iPhone arcade app, containing emulated versions of Street Fighter II, Commando, Ghouls 'n Ghosts and 1942, launched today, offering a Game Room-style structure for its offerings. You can purchase "tokens" to play each of the games for $.99, or you can pay three bucks for unlimited access. That much was announced when the game was first revealed last month.

However, what we didn't know at the time is that you get three free plays per day. Even if you don't feel like paying anything for the app, you can still play the games. Free seems like an okay price for touch-controlled arcade games.
