You can get an original, boxed copy of Shantae for your Game Boy Color. You’ll only need to cough up $500! I love that game, but I don’t know that I’m ready to spend that much money on it! Thanks to Jerry for the heads up.

#review The fat-chewing topic for hardcore gamers today who were the adolescents of the 1990s has been GoldenEye, the seminal Nintendo 64 shooter. Why can't they bring it to a modern console? Finally, "they" have. But it's neither reboot nor remake. More »

The spot comes up at 1:13 in the video, but I’ve grabbed the reference in picture form above. I wonder why she went with NES love for this video! Thanks to Mock Turtle for the heads up.

As you can see from the back of the box, there’s a message about additional online fees. Could we be seeing DLC for the Wii version of Black Ops, or is something else going on here? Thanks to Product084 for the heads up!

If your RSS reader says that this post went up at 9am (Pac)/noon (East), then you may have forgotten to set your clocks back. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve showed up at work early on this day during my high school and college jobs.

Today, I’m using the extra hour to finish up the MoH campaign, which I took a weeklong break from when Red Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare pack came out. Finished that up last night – it’s a great reason to jump back into John Marston’s boots, especially if you like zombies.

How are you using that extra hour? Sleeping?

Don't forget, friends -- as you rest your weary heads tonight, father time will attempt to juke all of mankind's chronometers by falling back one hour. We suggest you make the most of it, either by getting that extra hour of sleep you so richly deserve, or by performing some heinous act right before the changeover -- after all, you'll get a second chance at living that hour, because that's how time works. Obviously.

You could spend that double-hour rereading our seven favorite gaming webcomics from this past week, listed below. Just make sure you vote for your favorite in the poll after the jump!

Executive Summary (Virtual Shackles)
11/01/10 (Hello With Cheese)
Two Easy Steps (No Cash Value)
Power Word (Penny Arcade)
Priorities (Awkward Zombie)
The Fine Print (Nerf Now)
Bullet Bill (Brawl in the Family)

The quest to uncover the North American and European release dates for the Nintendo 3DS became a little bit easier earlier this week, when the megapublisher confirmed that the eye-popping handheld would visit itself upon our store shelves in March. However, the exact date of its arrival is still up in the air -- though scans of the latest issue of Official Nintendo Magazine obtained by VGTribune might just clear up the confusion. According to the mag, the U.S. and European 3DS release date is March 11, 2011.

There's no way of knowing if the magazine's report is on the money until Nintendo makes an official announcement -- after all, it's possible the article's mistaken, due entirely to the fact that March '11 looks a whole heck of a lot like March 11 on paper. Also, though Nintendo is accustomed to launching new gaming hardware in European territories on Fridays, those kinds of releases usually come stateside on Sundays. We've contacted Nintendo for a comment on this supposed due date but, as is the case with these things, we're not likely to get anything official until the Big N puts it into a press release.

Update: Some of the magazine's readers are reporting that the scan obtained by VGTribune was photoshopped, and that it did indeed read "March 2011." Another scan on GoNintendo shows the release timetable in its unaltered glory.

Namco Bandai recently posted its financial results for the first half of FY2011, a period running April - September. The results don't look too hot on paper -- the company's "Content" division (which encapsulates its console games branch) reported total sales of ¥7,145 billion ($879 million), while the company as a whole ended up with a net loss of ¥1.93 billion ($24 million). However, when compared to the ¥6.04 billion ($74 million) in net losses the company suffered during the first half of FY10, these figures are ... well, significantly less terrible.

The company's biggest seller released in the current fiscal year was the licensed adaptation of the animated film Despicable Me, which moved 390,000 copies during the first half. Trailing close behind was Dead to Rights: Retribution at 350,000 copies sold. Imagine what kind of a sales powerhouse Namco would have on its hands if Universal ever did an animated movie about a young boy and his insatiable, murderous dog.

Digital Foundry has taken its mathematical approach to examining the deep inner workings of games to whole new heights with is recent lag analysis of the Killzone 3 multiplayer beta. Using a special controller (designed by modder extraordinaire Ben Heck), the DF team measured the exact amount of time that passed between pressing R1 and the in-game gun actually firing a bullet: 116ms. According to the blog, that's about 33ms shorter than the lag present in Killzone 2, which apparently makes a world of difference in twitchy shooters of this ilk.

Check out a video of the group's study, as well as a few other odds and ends about the technical side of the beta, over on Eurogamer.
