This Thursday, November 11th, PlayStation Home will update to client 1.4. In addition to the features we announced last Friday – wardrobe management, grouping, and voice chat – there are several other noteworthy additions, such as the new “Character Status” settings, improvements to the Menu Pad and Navigator, and cross-game invite support (finally, you can invite your friends to join you in PlayStation Home no matter what they are playing or watching on their PS3s). The new 1.4 client also brings numerous bug fixes and performance improvements. Full Patch Notes can be found HERE.

Important notice: When you start PlayStation Home to apply the 1.4 patch, please wait for the orange light to stop flashing on your PS3 before commencing the patching process. Otherwise your PS3 will reboot and you will have to start over.

LittleBigPlanet fans rejoice! This week the mega-popular LittleBigPlanet space receives a massive update with the brand new LittleBigDerby game. This super-addictive multiplayer game puts you and up to 7 of your friends in a paintball challenge where you must shoot targets to earn points and progress your racer towards the finish line. Pro tip: Hit targets with the right color paintballs to rack up bonus points.

The PlayStation Home Mall receives a huge update this week with brand new items in the Exclusives store (such as the new Platinum suit and Onyx gown – pictured below), new accessories for the ladies in the Sodium store (also pictured below), Irem swimwear, and Konami’s new line of soccer items (their initial offering includes the Australia and New Zealand kits – check back often for more countries’ kits in the PlayStation Home Mall).

MotoGP 10/11 will bring fans the most authentic and realistic MotoGP experience of the series.

Capcom has high hopes for two major titles lined up for the second half of its fiscal year. The company expects the Japanese release of Monster Hunter Freedom 3 on PSP to move a whopping 3.6 million units which, given the portable series' sales history, isn't unreasonable. Capcom also expects to move 2 million units worldwide with the release of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 in Spring 2011.

The publisher also stated that the departure of Managing Corporate Officer Keiji Inafune has accelerated the company's overhaul of its R&D organization. Originally planned for the next fiscal year (starting April 2011), the shift will attempt to adjust for the "unprecedented period of volatile change" occurring in the industry. The company views "social networking service" games as a business opportunity and plans to "swiftly form an organization and formulate strategies to address" changes.

The company also did some other executive shuffling to streamline its R&D to "enable Capcom to adapt to markets that are becoming increasingly larger and more complex."

Nintendo has filed a trademark application for "It's on like Donkey Kong" with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The company said the request was made "in honor of the upcoming Nov. 21 launch" of Donkey Kong Country Returns -- in other words, Nintendo is about to put a lock on the phrase's commercial use: "On Nov. 21, It's on like Donkey Kong[TM]!"

Of course, Nintendo both recognizes and encourages the everyday use of the phrase, describing it as "an old, popular Nintendo phrase that has a number of possible interpretations depending on how it's used." The ambiguity with which that's presented lets the mind wander past Ron's gleeful bowling pronouncement to dusty arcades with challengers quartering up, shouting "IT'S ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!" while choosing Akuma (again). Or when it's shouted across the internet by your friend on the blue team who just got no-scoped in the dome.

Okay, it's mostly used by gamers shouting at other gamers. Fine.
