Mistwalker's Wii RPG The Last Story will receive a big push from Nintendo in Japan when it comes out January 27. The company will offer the game in a bundle with a white Wii and Classic Controller Pro for ¥25,800 ($300), neatly packed in a box (pictured above) that buyers may want to hang onto for display purposes. It looks really nice, is what we're saying.

The first run of the game will also be bundled with bonuses including a mini-soundtrack and an artbook. Speaking of the soundtrack, Nintendo also revealed that Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu has created the music for The Last Story (via a Japanese-language Iwata Asks interview with both Uematsu and his fellow Squaresoft veteran Hironobu Sakaguchi). The addition of Uematsu certainly makes that mini-soundtrack more appealing!

Borderlands' game of the year edition is heading to Mac on December 3. Like previous editions of the compilation, it will include the four DLC packs (The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx and Claptrap's New Robot Revolution) and cost $49.95 in the States, £34.95 in the UK and €39.95 in mainland Europe.

This Borderlands announcement comes shortly after 2K Games also revealed that Civilization 5 would make its way to the Mac on November 23. Those interested in the system specs required to observe a Claptrap in its native habitat should head on past the break.

Last week we introduced you to Japan Studio’s upcoming PSN title Beat Sketcher, a PlayStation Move motion controller exclusive title that will be available for purchase in the PlayStation Store on November 23rd.

This week we’d like to introduce Sound Director and Composer Mr. Yasuhiro Kawagoe – and show you a new video that he created using Beat Sketcher.

Yasuhiro Kawagoe – Sound Director * noisycroak Co., Ltd. Learned Jazz theory and Drum performance in a musical academy. After graduation, he has been worked as a performer and composer. Now he mainly works on game music and sound, such as the What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord!? and No Heroes Allowed! (as musical performer), Patchwork Heroes (as sound director), and echochrome (sound effect manipulation).

This week, the Beat Sketcher team shares some of their thoughts behind the creation of Beat Sketcher. If there are any questions that you would like us to ask the team, leave a comment and we’ll try our best to include them in the next blog post!

Q: How do you use PlayStation Move motion controller in Beat Sketcher?

A: In Beat Sketcher, you can doodle at will by using the PlayStation Move as a pen. A whole screen shown on your TV is a canvas, so you need to move not only your hands but also the whole body widely. Doodles created by your movements hit the notes, overlap, and become music. It generates a new experience because you can enjoy drawing and sound at the same time!

Q: What are the benefits of using PlayStation Move in Beat Sketcher?

A: Various nuanced expressions are easily produced with intuitive controls, such as dynamic line by using Japanese-Calligraphy-like brush pen, calligraphy line making full use of wrist twist, or an intricate line by using an ultrafine pen tip.

Q: How has the high degree of accuracy and speed afforded by PlayStation Move helped in creating Beat Sketcher?

A: When a player draws, the player’s moving position and drawing speed can be used as accurate control input. So PlayStation Move’s capability enabled us to realize various types of expression as mentioned above.

Q: How does PlayStation Move change the way you approach and play Beat Sketcher compared to other “drawing games”?

A: There are some existing games that you can enjoy drawings, and those are static type of gameplay that mainly use a mouse or pen tablet for input. When we develop a PlayStation Move-exclusive game, we had the idea to create something that enables the doodle itself to be more dynamic gameplay by making full use of the motion controller capability.

Specifically we were very inspired by a famous Japanese illustrator and singer, Ms. Ado Mizumori, who is well-known in Japan for her performance of drawing a transparent acrylic board while singing a song that lyrics tells what she is drawing. We were also inspired by a series of pictures shot in 1949, which captured drawings by Pablo Picasso with light.

We also consider that the sound is one of the important factors to make doodle dynamic play, and keep working on how to integrate it in the game since the early stage of the project. Finally we reached the current style that to create the sounds and drawings at the same time.

We’ll be back next week with the second half of the developer interview and introduce you to Mr. Kenei Hayama. In the meantime, here are a few more awesome pictures that were drawn using Beat Sketcher, just to give you all an idea of what you can create.

Keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming release of Beat Sketcher for PlayStation Network on November 23rd!

The "Doing Things that Should Have Been Done Long Ago" department at Camelot Software Planning has come up with something brilliant for Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, something you've seen before in other contexts: hyperlinks.

To help fill new players in on the Golden Sun lore, and to help returning players remember the people, places, and events from those GBA games, the dialogue in Dark Dawn is peppered with links like the one above (the "Tap!" graphic is there because that was the first such link to appear). Tap and an encyclopedia entry for that entity appears on the top screen. It's also saved so you can go back through them later. Who were the Warriors of Vale? What's a Sol Sanctum? The game is free to refer back to this stuff, secure in the knowledge that you can figure it all out.

Now that it's been done, all games with lots of characters, or lots of backstory, should implement this immedlately.

Sure, the release of LittleBigPlanet 2 got bumped to next year -- but that doesn't mean you won't get to play it before 2010 expires. Yes, we're talking about time travel. Are you down? No? Well, we guess you could just download the LBP2 demo that Sony has announced will launch December 21. The sample will give players access to a select sliver of the Story mode -- and all the new gameplay mechanics therein.

Of course, for the full "Play, Create, Share" experience, you're going to have to receive one of the beta invitations going out in the next batch, which Media Molecule will send out early next month. This wave will include PlayStation Plus subscribers and community contributors, as well as a few random giveaway winners -- so if you're hoping to get on board, you might want to get on that Plus train, become an LBP creation maven and/or get really lucky.

As expected, Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves, the title outed by Australia's ratings board, refers to a new LittleBigPlanet spinoff. Sony officially revealed the game today as a multiplayer-only game requiring one PlayStation Move wand and up to three DualShock controllers.

One player uses the Move to clear a path -- by blasting crates, flicking switches and triggering platforms -- allowing up to three other players to make their way through the ten prehistoric-themed levels platforming-style. The game title pretty much sums this one up: Sackboy in a prehistoric landscape, using the Move.

PlayStation Plus members will get to see Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves as early as December 7, for free -- as will an unspecified number of "LBP supporters." The game will be released to the general PSN population one week later for $6. It'll also be included as a bonus on the LittleBigPlanet 2 disc, which will be available on January 18.
