Romino Games has hinted at a PC release of its sidescrolling strategy title (man, it still feels weird to type that combination of genres) Swords and Soldiers since it first launched on WiiWare last June. Apparently, it firmed up the game's PC release plans over the weekend -- Steam is currently listing the game's launch date as this coming Wednesday, December 1.

No pricing information was included on the game's info page, though we imagine it will resemble the game's $10 price point on Wii. Unless, of course, the PC port is infused with an additional helping of MoreFun -- we wouldn't mind paying a small surcharge for an extra shot of that vitally important attribute.

But it’s better than anything I could do! Surely someone can put together a better Mario, right? Thanks to Dan for the heads up!

Today's batch of daily Steam weekend deals is pretty radical, decimating the prices of jams like The Ball, World of Goo and The Orange Box -- however, you shouldn't ignore the other big sale Valve is currently hosting. Dozens of shirts, hats and other pieces of merchandise from the company's titles are currently on sale through The Valve Store. Many pieces of apparel are temporarily marked down to just five bucks; that's some cheap holiday shopping for your more game-savvy acquaintances.

If you can hold off from capitalizing on these offers, you might be interested in two new items which will soon arrive on the Valve Store's virtual shelves -- plushes modeled after Left 4 Dead's gnarliest foes, the Hunter and Tank. You'll be able to place these bad boys next to your equally squeezable (and upsetting) Boomer plush when they go on sale in late December.

Well, here's a ... weird ... thing. We knew that Mario Sports Mix would feature characters from the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest franchises, but we weren't aware of the other aspects the athletic Wii title would borrow from those two RPG franchises. TheBitBlock recently uncovered a bizarre gameplay clip from Mix -- apparently, at one point, you have to face off against one of Final Fantasy's Behemoths, using your epic volleyball skills. Yes, really.

Check out a video of a Final Fantasy Moogle and a Super Mario Toad going two-on-one against the boss monster posted after the jump. We wonder if he drops any good loot -- like coins, or a mushroom, or a Masamune.

[Thanks, Franco!]

Kinect had what most people would call a successful launch, moving over one million units worldwide during its first week on store shelves; however, the device wasn't met with quite as warm a reception in Japan. According to Media Create, Microsoft's new all-seeing eye had a "quiet start" in the region, moving just 26,000 units during its launch weekend of November 20 -- that includes both standalone and 360-bundled Kinects.

Also troubling is that no Kinect games made it onto Media Create's Top 20 software sales chart. The highest-selling launch title was DanceMasters, which managed to sell 6,000 copies. On the other hand, four PlayStation Move launch titles made it onto the Top 20 during the controller's launch week, with a combined total of 50,000 copies sold. There's a lot of factors at play, here -- the data coming from a two-day period, the lower install base for the 360, and so on -- but Microsoft's going to have to make a concerted effort if it wants to get the peripheral off the ground in Japan.
