We're gonna deliver this news quick, like the hasty removal of a Band-Aid: David O. Russell's Mark Wahlberg-fronted Uncharted film adaptation isn't off to an awesome start. After the Wahlberg confirmed his involvement last week, Russell spoke to the LA Times about his vision for the film, saying: "This idea really turns me on that there's a family that's a force to be reckoned with in the world of international art and antiquities ... [a family] that deals with heads of state and heads of museums and metes out justice ... We'll have the family dynamic, which we've done in a couple of movies now. And then you take that and put it on the bigger, more muscular stage of an international action picture, but also put all the character stuff in it. That's a really cool idea to me.". Russell added that the pace at which the film's development is moving along is "a locomotive," and that he's already penned about half of the script. Meaning there's plenty of time to just like, sit back, spend some time with the two already very movie-like Uncharted games, and just like, reevaluate some stuff. Specifically, all of that stuff you said right there, about a family that doles out justice to museum owners. That whole ... part. Everything. All of it.

As a fun experiment, we added some other, totally made-up quotes about other film projects Mr. Russell (O'Russell?) might be interested in. Join us!

In yet another Xbox Live Arcade deal, Microsoft is now offering a free batch of 400 MS Points for purchasing two qualifying XBLA games. Don't run off downloading games just yet though, because you'll need to head over to the Xbox Live Events page and download the Arcade Offer gamer picture to register for the giveaway first (the direct link to the gamer picture is currently broken, but it's the first one listed on the events page).

Once that's done, snag two of the games listed after the break (including favorites like Limbo, Lara Croft, Monday Night Combat, Super Meat Boy and more). Within four weeks, the free points will be added to registered Live accounts automatically or sent as redemption code via email. If you're planning to pick up any of the eligible games, you might as well get some free points too, right? The promotion ends December 20, so get to it.

[Thanks, Grand Kerfuffle]

It's official: We need two Ken Levines. We want him to, of course, spend every waking hour of his life making BioShock Infinite -- that's key. But we also need him to spend all his time talking to interesting people and churning out fantastic discussions in his Irrational Interviews podcast.

On the latest edition, he discusses adapting nerdy mythologies with someone who would know: Zack Snyder, the director of 300, Watchmen and the upcoming Superman relaunch. He also reviews some practical tips on cloning. We hope.

Hi everyone – it’s time for another Digital Comics Store update. This week we have a huge update and a lot more content from BOOM! Studios.

DC Comics delivers us The Flash: Rebirth #1, a six part mini series. Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver, the visionaries responsible for the blockbuster GREEN LANTERN: REBIRTH and THE SINESTRO CORPS WAR, comes the start of an explosive and jaw-dropping epic that will reintroduce to Barry Allen, the modern age Flash who single-handedly birthed the Silver Age of comics! DC history will be made, and the Flash legacy will be redefined!

DC also releases Supernatural: Origins #1 which is a must-buy for any fan of the TV Show.

From Marvel, we finally have the much requested series The Punisher (2001). Written by industry legend Garth Ennis, Issues 1 to 4 are available now.

IDW bring us another dose of Silent Hill, this time with Past Life #1. We also see the forth issue of Zombies vs Robots: Aventure which I can’t recommend highly enough!

Finally from BOOM! comes Cold Space, written by none other than Samuel L. Jackson! When an on-the-run outlaw crash-lands on a hostile planet on the brink of civil war, he finds himself in the crossfire between two warring factions. But in chaos lies opportunity – because where there’s war, there’s money to be made.

Fans of Steve Niles will also want to check out Giant Monster. The year is 2013. Astronaut Don Maggert’s first solo manned space flight has him disappear in the grip of an intergalactic horror. Returning to earth, he’s been transformed into something that will throw the entire planet into peril!

Ever wondered what playing through Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light would be like if Lara was Adam 'Kane' Marcus and Totec was James Seth Lynch, eponymous characters of the Kane & Lynch series? According to a hack of the PC version that popped up on YouTube - along with a helpful confirmation straight from developer Crystal Dynamics' Twitter account - soon enough you'll be able to experience such bizarreness firsthand as both characters will be available for download at some point in the future (remember: before the end of 2010).

Also revealed was that other Kane from CrystalD's past: Kain and Raziel (of Legacy of Kain series fame) will be the second character pack. Names are also put to the second and third content expansions: "Things That Go Boom" (number two) and "Hazardous Reunion" (number three). The YouTube clip after the break shows a bit of our old friends Kain and Raziel in action ... for the first time in seven years. Quick, someone explain YouTube to them!

[Note: Crystal Dynamics is asking fans to tweet their choice for which character pack should come first. Instead, we're going to ask you to decide in our totally scientific poll, just below.]View Poll

Over the past 10 days, I've been spending a lot of time with EA Bright Light's Create. It hasn't exactly enjoyed a ton of fervor (or marketing support) and was only officially announced a few months back, plopped unceremoniously in a dark corner of EA's NYC summer press event. Frankly, the game hasn't been given a lot of attention, and taking a more thorough approach seemed like a great way to explore what folks might be missing.

But after spending hours playing through puzzle after puzzle, the unfortunate truth is there just isn't that much game in Create to dive deeply into.
