If there's a silver lining in music games' stormy slide down the software sales chart, it's that their bloated hardware bundles are bound to get cheaper. Of course, Amazon's one-day discounts on recent "Hero" games could also be the last -- as in: The last Hero games are on sale today!

Though we've lax, nay, negligent about tending the Joystiq clan we created, we're happy to see the under-appreciated MAG still chugging along. Today fans get the 2.10 update, which allows in-game screenshots and the ability to queue for several game modes simultaneously.

There's an XP bonus for players who line up for more modes, which seems like an extremely smart way of managing a community that may be losing players to newer shooters. If you'd like to peruse the full list, you can find it right here. We hope it's enough to distract you from the sting of being abandoned by your fearless, absentee Joystiq leaders.

[Thanks, Peter]

Survival is the name of the game for Lara Croft's next virtual excursion -- well, the name of the game is actually Tomb Raider, but, you know -- and a few details from the January issue of Game Informer (which already found its way onto the info-hungry internets) have revealed exactly how said survival story will unfold.

As hinted by yesterday's startling cover reveal, the game will not only be a reboot of the franchise, but a reboot of the Tomb Raider brand. Rather than being a heavily scripted third-person action game, the new title will allow for open-world exploration, giving a fresh-faced, 21-year-old Lara new areas to traverse as she upgrades her own exploratory abilities and finds (or crafts) new equipment and survival tools. Crystal Dynamics didn't give any specifics on these tools, but we're pretty sure Knife plus Stick is going to equal a thing you can kill things with.

As one might expect, the game's survivalist objective sets a grim tone -- Lara will have to constantly forage for food and water to stay alive. She'll also have to avoid the traps and violent inhabitants strewn across the game's island setting, which, according to the article, are capable of dispatching Lara in extremely brutal ways. Like, ways that make the Tomb Raider 2 "Blow Lara Up" code seem like a minor papercut. Keep an eye out for the January issue of Game Informer for even more details about this increasingly interest-piquing title.

December’s episode of Qore features highly anticipated games that span a wide range of video game genres. From the extensive new playground that is LittleBigPlanet 2 to strategic dismemberment of Dead Space 2, December’s Episode 31 is stuffed with hit titles for your holiday enjoyment presented in full 720p.

Spanning the Globe

An extensive tour of LittleBigPlanet 2 leads off Episode 31. The developers at Media Molecule have filled the LBP2 sandbox full of lots of sweet new toys and Veronica takes a close up look at several of our favorites. Watch. Enjoy. Repeat.

Freaking Veronica

Veronica is so not a fan of survival horror. That’s why the Qore team sent her to cover Dead Space 2 because nothing is more fun than watching your host get creeped out by just the idea of Necromorphs. DS2 Art Director Ian Milham dissects the gory details behind their ever-evolving technique to find new ways to shock and horrify Ms. Belmont (and the rest of us).

Cliffy B’s Reign

Crazy guns, a high tech lasso and extra style points for creative kills make Bulletstorm a must-play choice for folks who like their shooters on the extreme side. Along with sweet-looking gameplay, Epic Games’ Design Director Cliff Bleszinski talks about “putting the fun back into the first person shooter.”

Chase ‘em Down

Audrey Cleo takes us through Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. The Electronic Arts racer returns with the cops geared up in exotic high-performance rides to chase down the speedsters in Seacrest County.

As for DLC, we were hoping to announce a highly anticipated demo in time for this week’s episode release, but we are not able to reveal this yet. We’ll have more details later this month, sorry for the delay.

Look for Episode 31 later today.

Riding on the slimey coattails of last week's announcement, Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime received the full media push this morning, with a handful of screens and a debut gameplay trailer (found after the break). Alongside receiving assets, we learned that the Wanako-developed game will follow a team of rookie ghostbusters "on a brand new paranormal experience" in New York City.

As teased in the trailer by a giant, sentient subway line, players will take down ectoplasm-filled enemies and "gigantic bosses" with several characteristic ghostbustin' weapons (insert "don't cross the streams!" joke here). It seems the old ghostbusters -- and the actors that voice them -- will be sitting this one out. We reached out to Slimer's representation for more information, and will update this post if we hear anything back. Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime should arrive on XBLA, PSN, and PC "this Spring."
