We've known for quite some time that Electronic Arts' Battlefield 1943 "experiment" was successful, selling over a million units on Xbox Live alone, but now CFO Eric Brown has revealed some numbers on the game's development cost and revenue. The EA exec stated at UBS's 39th Annual Media and Communications Conference the the game cost "single-digit millions" to create and netted (after Sony and Microsoft took their cuts) a healthy $16 million for the publisher.

Brown explained that EA expects digitally distributed product to make up 20 percent of the company's revenue this fiscal year. Beyond Battlefield, Brown also noted significant revenue from FIFA's Ultimate Team mode, along with full-game PC downloads.

With BF:1943's success, it'll be interesting to see how the Battlefield:BFBC2 Vietnam expansion experiment works out. Boiled down, Vietnam is essentially the same downloadable game concept as 1943, but called a "multiplayer expansion" that requires a copy of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 to play.

THQ said last week that it had a plan to support the uDraw Wii tablet through the 2012 calendar year, and today CFO Paul Pucino started to clarify the level of support. Speaking at the UBS Annual Global Media & Communications Conference, Pucino said that four to five titles would arrive for the device from THQ in the next fiscal year (April 2011 - March 2012). He didn't offer any more specifics, only revealing that one of the games would feature SpongeBob SquarePants.

Okay, we're gonna cut to the chase here, THQ: Convince Nintendo to let you develop a new Mario Paint for uDraw, and you can have all the money. How does that sound? All. The. Money.

There are a lot of attractive people that don't own a Wii or PC. Acknowledging this shortcoming, Telltale has announced new platforms for Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People. The episodic adventure inspired by the Homestar Runner web site will be available on the North American PlayStation Network on December 21st, with European and Mac releases to follow "shortly thereafter."

The press release doesn't detail pricing, but all five episodes are currently available for $29.95 on PC. For a blast from the past, check out the original trailer after the break -- and read our review from 2008.

James Mielke, formerly of 1UP, tracked down Sega legend Yu Suzuki for an interview, during which Suzuki revealed one of his ideas for the design of Shenmue 3 -- which, just to keep you from getting your hopes up, is still totally not happening. But it sounds interesting! But it's not happening.

"Shenmue 3 doesn't expand outward, but inward," Suzuki said, contrasting the expansive worlds of the original games with an emphasis on deeper interaction with the main characters, Ryo Hazuki and Shenhua. In the examples he gave, which were "not actually in the game," your choice of tea or coffee, or answers to hypothetical questions, would affect your relationship with in-game characters.

The rest of the two-part interview discusses Suzuki's past creating novel arcade games like Hang-On, the acquisition of 3D technology from Lockheed to develop Virtua Fighter and Virtua Racing, and the long-lost touchscreen arcade game Psy-Phi. "I think it would be good to make it for Kinect," Suzuki mused. "Yeah, maybe I'll make that my next project, although, I should probably make the game a little simpler for the Kinect audience."

Realm of Gaming reports the leak of sound files allegedly hidden in an assets folder on the official Mortal Kombat site. The audio clips reveal not only the potential return of the "Test Your Might" minigame and the franchise's signature Brutalities, but also a plethora of characters, including: Ermac, Goro, Human Sektor, Kabal, Noob Saibot, Quan Chi, Shang Tsung, Sindel, Smoke and Stryker. Oh, and there's this beautiful end-round taunt from Johnny Cage: "You got caged!"

The sound bytes have since been pulled from or relocated on the game site, but it would appear the damage has already been done: The files in question are currently downloadable from this MegaUpload link. While they are not confirmation of the inclusion of any of these features or characters in the final release, the sound clips (if indeed authentic) at least suggest Netherrealm is playing around with said content -- then again, perhaps the studio just planted a mean red herring.

We've contacted the developer for comment.
