Tired of cinematic CGI trailers that show no gameplay? Well, EA has a Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam trailer that's pure in-game footage of maps "Hill 137" and "Vantage Point." The multiplayer expansion will be available December 21 on consoles, and December 18 on PC, for $15.

The global hacking community has already done an admirable job of exploiting the technology inside Kinect, but now would be motion control designers can get the tech straight from the source. PrimeSense, the company that created the motion-sensing tech inside each Kinect, has released open source drivers that will work either with Kinect or its own dev kit, which Develop notes is "smaller and lighter" than a Kinect unit.

PrimeSense has partnered with two other companies to create OpenNI, a not-for-profit organization set up to "promote the compatibility and interoperability of Natural Interaction (NI) devices, applications and middleware." The drivers are available on the OpenNI website, as is the NITE motion tracking middleware. OpenNI binaries are available for both Windows and Ubuntu.

With some pretty amazing Kinect projects already out there, we can't wait to see what comes of this officially backed software release. Check out a quick demonstration of the software's skeleton tracking capabilities after the break.

LA Noire is a paradox. On one hand, it is precisely the kind of game you'd expect from Rockstar. On the other, it shatters nearly every norm we've come to expect from the collective of studios. Everything about the game was a surprise to me, from its meticulously paced gameplay, to its straight-shooting protagonist, to the fact that -- in spite of years of media silence -- LA Noire was a real game, running in real-time on a PS3, looking nearly ready for release.

As with Rockstar's other games this generation, LA Noire looks, sounds, and feels expensive. The level of detail in the massive environments, coupled with the copious servings of motion-captured dialogue remind me that Rockstar has spared no expense creating the game. At this point, we expect nothing less. Seeing your character race around a realistically-rendered Los Angeles, mini-map in the corner, evokes a more-than-familiar feeling.

But, LA Noire isn't Grand Theft Auto set in the 1940s. It's not Red Dead Redemption without horses. Perhaps the best comparison I can offer is this: it's a big-budget, M-rated Phoenix Wright.

It’s been a while since we’ve shown anything new from MotorStorm Apocalypse, we were planning on keeping pretty quiet while we work like maniacs to get the game finished. But when I was asked to skip over to New York for one last reveal of 2010, I couldn’t resist showing just one more track, and of course sharing a glimpse on the Playstation.Blog.

Let me introduce a track that has presented us with some of the biggest gameplay challenges we’ve ever had: Skyline, AKA ‘the Blockhopper’ AKA ‘Vertigo Redux,’ AKA ‘the one with a race where you get dropped from a helicopter onto a skyscraper that is already collapsing, and are expected to win against a pack of bikes and ATVs on rooftops and in offices that are falling to pieces.’

Making the track spectacular but also fun and winnable by all 13 vehicle classes has been a real test of everything we’ve learned.

For obvious reasons there are a lot of jumps and ramps as you pelt from one building to the next, and that means ensuring you can always make those jumps after bailing, even in a Monster Truck. The addition of in-air cooling (you can earn more boost if you release the accelerator in the air) means there’s another new tactical layer to the gameplay, as you can hunt out ramps to maximise the boost available to set world-beating times. It’s been an interesting track to get right!

We’re close to nailing it though, and hope people agree that there’s never been a race like this before.

We haven’t blown our load yet – there are a good few more surprise tracks in store from MotorStorm Apocalypse. So keep your ear to the ground for some more news in the next few weeks, I hope you can join us for the party at the end of the world when we launch next year!

Cheers and Happy Holidays.

A portion of a Nintendo Life review… Sneezies does pretty much what is to be expected of a port, but with four barely different modes we can’t say it’s really much of an upgrade.
