It's not clear if this method of pricing will become a norm with the digital retailer.

Titanfall from Respawn Entertainment is kind of a big deal. But in case you haven't made up your mind about the game - or watched us fail miserably at the beta - here's a trailer showing you what a bunch of people are saying about it to help you decide your feelings. Yay peer pressure! [Image: EA]

Hexcells and its standalone expansion, Hexcells Plus, are now available on Steam for PC, Mac and Linux users.

Both games play a bit like the Picross series - players are presented with designs made out of hexagons at the start of each level. The black, numbered hexagons tell a player how many pieces of the final design are touching the black spaces, but players need to determine which of the orange hexagons are extra black hexagons and which are hidden blue hexagons. As players mark each orange space, the correct choices will turn blue, while miscalculations add to the Mistakes counter of a level.

Each game is $2.99, but they can also be bought in a bundle for $4.99. Hexcells seems like the sort of puzzler we would laugh off the complexity of, right before frying our brains over levels like this. [Image: Matthew Brown]

The name of this dorm-room food staple is commonly mistaken—there is no "of," it's just "Cup Noodles." You see, "Cup Noodles" are a very special type of noodles. They are quickly prepared. They are nourishing to students, and the underemployed. They shovel snow ...Read more...

The Rocksmith 2014 DLC train keeps rollin' with five new Rise Against songs available for Ubisoft's guitar game. As always, the individual songs cost $2.99, while the 5-song pack will run $11.99. The songs chosen by Ubisoft to highlight the Chicago punk rock group are: "Prayer Of The Refugee," "Give It All," "Satellite," "Make It Stop (September's Children)" and "Swing Life Away."

"Swing Life Away" is a change from most of Rise Against's library, as well as most of Rocksmith 2014 in that it's recorded acoustically. So yeah. Take that to Trivial Pursuit night. You're welcome.

Unlike the free-to-play, mobile lawn defense simulator, Plants vs. Zombies 2, microtransactions aren't planned for the launch of Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.

In an interview with GameSpot, PopCap producer Brian Lindley stated that Garden Warfare won't have microtransactions "at launch," but noted that PopCap will watch in-game metrics and fan reaction to determine where to take the game next.

We can only guess as to what those plans may be, but hopefully they aren't comparable to the temporary "test" of charging to spawn new lawnmowers in PvZ2, as reported by GameSpot. [Image: EA]

That's Phil Spencer, one of Microsoft's top gaming executives. Sakaguchi, of course, is Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of Final Fantasy, now at Mistwalker, where he has released a few Xbox-exclusive JRPGs like Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon. Hope Phil isn't just messing with us, because the Xbox One sure could use some JRPGs. (I've reached out to Microsoft to see if this is for real.)Read more...

Naughty Dog seemingly won everyone over last year (including Joystiq and the DICE Awards) with The Last of Us, its tale of survival in a clicker-ridden world. Its ending felt fairly conclusive, but in a recent discussion (which you should not explore if you're wary of spoilers for the game or DLC) on Reddit, a fan asked what the odds are for a future chance to visit The Last of Us' world once more.

"If you're asking about a sequel ... right now I'd say it's 50/50," Creative Director Neil Druckmann responded.

If that's not enough to rile people up, Game Director Bruce Straley teased in the same thread that the team is "working on the 3rd DLC drop for MP right now! ... and maybe something else ... we'll see." It's almost like they enjoy teasing fans!
Of course, if you missed your date with "Left Behind," the game's Valentines Day dose of narrative DLC, that's an immediate opportunity to spend more time with Ellie. [Image: Sony]

Coming from Tokyo-based games consultant Serkan Toto...

"I think that Sony will be able to capture some of the market that Nintendo isn't able to serve with the Wii U, but it will certainly be not all of it, but Nintendo is making it as easy for Sony as ever to capture some market share."
