Seth Fischer, one of Asia's best-known hedge fund managers, has written to Nintendo Co Ltd urging the Japanese console maker to develop and sell games for mobile platforms run by Apple Inc and Google Inc. Fischer, of Hong Kong-based Oasis Management Co Ltd, sent a similar letter in June to Nintendo, in which Oasis owns shares. His latest missive adds to investor pressure for the company to move on from making games only for its propriety consoles.

"Nintendo needs to embrace this thematic change in consumer demand, behaviour and expectations to stay relevant," said Fischer, Oasis' chief investment officer, in a letter on Wednesday obtained by Reuters. "It is readily apparent that the standard elasticity of demand principle no longer applies in the consumer entertainment market when access requires the purchase of a physical product," Fischer said in the letter to Nintendo Chief Executive Satoru Iwata.

Can you believe it's been 3 years since the 3DS launched? The system had a rocky start, but boy did it ever turn things around! Now a lot of people say that the 3DS is the must-have system on the market right now. I can definitely agree with that sentiment! Let's hope the celebration runs all the way through to year 4...and 5...and 6...and 7...

Gods Will Be Watching is a dark, depressing and mentally taxing point-and-click adventure from Deconstructeam and Hotline Miami publisher Devolver Digital, due out in June for PC, Mac and Linux. Note that when we say "dark, depressing and mentally taxing," we mean it in the most fun way possible.

That's this game's shtick: It places Sgt. Burden in the middle of violent interstellar tensions and asks him to decide who lives, who dies, who eats and who gets tortured - including himself - in a number of unpleasant scenarios. At times, it's either his crew or the world. Gods Will Be Watching mixes puzzles and decision-making with pixelated violence and psychological struggle.

"Our team set out to make a new breed of point-and click-adventure and capture the feeling of having to make heavy decisions with sometimes dark consequences," Deconstructeam founder Jordi de Paco, says in a press release. "We understand that Gods Will Be Watching is a departure for the genre but think we have an opportunity to break new ground in storytelling and the weight of decisions."

Gods Will Be Watching launches on Steam, GOG and Humble in June. It started as a Ludum Dare 26 game, and you can play that original jam project right here. Pre-orders for a DRM version plus a Steam key are up now at a 10 percent discount, or $9. [Image: Devolver Digital]

Nintendo of Europe: Firstly, please introduce yourself and your work to our readers.

Yasuhiro Wada: My name is Yasuhiro Wada, and my company is Toybox Inc. Around 20 years ago I created the first version of Harvest Moon, which was localised in collaboration with Nintendo. At the time Nintendo was very co-operative in localising the game to make it easy to understand for European players, so I’m very grateful for this. Over the years I think there have been almost 30 versions of Harvest Moon released together with Nintendo. I think we can say Harvest Moon is very popular in Europe, and I feel very happy about that. The last Harvest Moon I was involved with was Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns, and now I’m concentrating on developing a new game that is coming out really soon for Nintendo 3DS: Hometown Story.

NoE: Can you tell us a little more about what Hometown Story is about?

YW: It’s a game which makes you like human beings more than you liked them before. You start with a very small shop, and during the game it gets larger and larger – that’s the basic premise of the game. But making the shop bigger and bigger is not the purpose of the game.

The biggest difference compared to Harvest Moon is that there is a variety of very different characters who all have a deeply and carefully developed story behind them. The player develops his own story by interacting and communicating with the characters, of which there are about 30. That becomes the player’s story.

Expect a sharp upturn in broken controllers and smashed screens when Trials Fusion arrives on April 16 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Windows PC. The next entry in RedLynx's absorbingly thorny 2D platform-puzzler/stunt biker series, the first Trials ever on a PlayStation platform, is coming to physical shelves on Xbox One and PS4 in North America, as well as digital storefronts on all platforms.

The downloadable version of Trials Fusion is priced $20, while the physical version is priced $40 and includes a season pass in addition to the game. According to Ubisoft UK, the season pass can be purchased separately for the same price as the game there, which is £16. Ubisoft UK adds that the season pass features six DLC packs that will be released across the span of a year, with each one including a variety of tracks, bike components, and rider gear among other bits and bobs.
