I think the best way to start off any new month is with two free PlayStation Plus games. For March we have Dead Nation: Apocalpyse Edition for your PlayStation 4 and Tomb Raider for your PlayStation 3. If you’re unfamiliar with the original Dead Nation, it’s a top-down twin-stick shooter that’s best experienced with a friend. Make sure you’ve got a strategy and plenty of items before you head out to take down hordes of zombies. The Apocalypse Edition was just announced last week, will be hitting PlayStation Store tomorrow, and it has some interesting benefits like an interactive live streaming option.

Then we have last year’s critically acclaimed reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise. Witness Lara’s growth from young archeologist to bad-ass adventurer as her expedition gets shipwrecked on a mysterious island. Lara has to do a lot to survive, including live through several impalings, explore her surroundings and hunt wildlife.

You can download Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition and Tomb Raider after the PlayStation Store updates tomorrow.

Fez lands with huge, happy grin on PS3, PS4 and Vita on March 25 in the US, Polytron Producer Marie-Christine Bourdua announced via the PlayStation Blog today. Fez hits European Sony systems on March 26. The port comes from a collaboration with Blit Software.

"The PS4 version is what we consider to be the best-looking and smoothest Fez experience you can get on a TV set, running at beautiful 1080p (and yes, 60fps too)," Bourdua said. "You wouldn't think that upping the resolution would make a big difference in a game like ours, where the pixels are the size of Gomez's fist ... but it really does look even crisper and blockier - in a good way."

The game itself remains unchanged from its original XBLA or PC versions, though the PS4 iteration has a few gimmicks: The DualShock 4's lightbar brings "a little bit of Fez's world into your own home," and judging by a picture that means the bar matches the dominant on-screen color. The newest version of Fez supports a late-game easter egg without the need for red glasses, and it runs on 3DTVs. It supports cross-saves among all three Sony platforms. During an average weekday, I play approximately 14 prototypes or demos, found while casting my Monocle of Sauron across Twitter, or searching IndieDB and the TIGforums. Most days, I end up bookmarking one or two projects and check back on them at a later date. Every now and then, faced with a deluge of AAA press releases for BB games, I decide to share a prototype instead, no matter how early in development it might be.

The Nightmare Cooperative caught my eye because it has the second best name for a game ever, being a description of this place on a Friday night when I want to make dinner and they’re all out of fresh veg. It’s also a single player team-based roguelike puzzler that shows great promise.

It’s been a long time coming, but Update 12 is here! The Warframe team is extremely (dare I say Digital Extremely…*crickets*) excited to not only bring Update 12 to our existing PS4 players, but also to our newly added Warframe fans in Japan. They just got a taste on their Day 1 launch. This is another big update that includes a new Warframe, new weapons, a new game mode, and my personal favorite; a badass new HUD!

Zephyr: The Air-Based Warframe

For Update 12, we really wanted to introduce a Warframe like no other, and we believe we accomplished that with Zephyr, the air-based Warframe. Lighter than all other Warframes, Zephyr uses this to her advantage to increase her mobility, but also to complement her vicious attacks.

12845970814_2d991105cb_n.jpg12845643293_d80a4915b0_n.jpg

New HUD

Now I know sometimes it’s hard to adapt to change, but bear with me here. Our new, stylized, in-game HUD is something every Tenno will enjoy. This HUD is less obtrusive, contains more information for the player and their squad, and we offer a handful of new customizable options to tinker with.

Another big change our players will notice is our 3D transmissions, which bring so much more life to our various friends and foes in the Warframe universe. Be sure to give us feedback in our official PS4 Forums on Warframe.com.

New Game Mode: Interception

Over here at Digital Extremes, we’re always looking to spice up Warframe and introduce new content and game modes for our players. With Update 12, we’ve added a new capture based game mode, Interception. Along with this game mode, we’ve expanded the beautiful forest level set teased in Update 11.5 across all Earth nodes.

12845970564_833ed4f9e6_z.jpg

Here’s how Interception works: four areas are highlighted on the map that players or enemies can control. Staying in proximity to the capture point keeps control of areas, but watch out for the Grineer, as they can capture a point by simply hacking nearby consoles. Holding a capture point accumulates points for your total score. Whichever team reaches the max score first wins the round, and then you simply need to clear the area of remaining Grineer to complete the mission.

The more points you hold, the faster your score goes up. When the round’s over, the score is reset and players have the option to claim their reward and quit, or continue to fight on for a bigger reward similar to Defense mode.

This is just a taste of what’s included in Update 12 so load up, gear up, and space ninja the night away, my PS4 friends! Until next time.

We live in topsy-turvy times. In the recent past, it was illegal to call something a ‘game’ unless it included at least one dungeon and seven dragons. Then Skyrim contained infinite dragons and the entire gaming market almost crashed because of reptilian boss creature oversaturation. Thankfully, the industry was saved when audiences realised that they didn’t need dragons in their games and might, in fact, prefer chickens. Let’s face it, you never see a Dixie Dragon or a KFD.

Kickstarter success Unrest does contain Naga, which are a bit like dragons, but it’s also a tale of ordinary people, set in an Indian city undergoing a revolution. It’ll be playable at Rezzed and it sounds fascinating.

This is it. We’ve come to the end of development, and Fez is finally coming to PlayStation on March 25th! It’s been an incredible adventure, and we couldn’t have made it without the amazing work of Blit Software and the support of Sony’s team. In the name of all of us at Polytron, thank you so much!

12802121744_1268e3b9f3_z.jpg

People have been asking for a PS3 version of Fez since day one, and we believe it was worth the wait. Blit took the time to make a solid C++ port of the game, which runs smoothly at native resolution on PS Vita, and 720p at 60 frames per second on PS3.

The PS4 version is what we consider to be the best-looking and smoothest Fez experience you can get on a TV set, running at beautiful 1080p (and yes, 60fps too). You wouldn’t think that upping the resolution would make a big difference in a game like ours, where the pixels are the size of Gomez’s fist… but it really does look even crisper and blockier — in a good way.

12801806303_9ccdb3cede_z.jpg

12801704355_9110f8c65b_n.jpg12801806633_f139449d3d_n.jpg

No one’s going to blame you for digging around, but you won’t find many big changes in these versions of the game. However, there are a few surprises… especially in the PS4 version: DualShock 4’s lightbar has been put to the task of bringing a little bit of Fez’s world into your own home, and you may not need to search for that dusty pair of red/cyan glasses to experience a very late-game easter egg… Funny story: to test the new 3DTV support, we spent a weekend running around computer shops to find a monitor that sports an integrated emitter. When we found one and started up Fez, our minds were forever expanded. I think we can see the fourth dimension now?

So the PS4 version is loaded with sexy features, but definitely don’t hold off from getting a dose of Fez on the go, especially with a cross-save slot shared across all three platforms! I sometimes idle the game in a puzzle room, transforming my PS Vita into an infinite Disasterpeace music generator. We’re excited to see what other ways people will find to enjoy the first portable version of Fez.

12801696755_2b96d6c3e2_m.jpg12802113654_c8db2d5fe7_m.jpg12801696575_85fe39486d_m.jpg

Let’s all enjoy the universe of Fez one more time (or for the first time) on PlayStation!

Ultra Street Fighter 4 includes a new Edition Select feature that allows players to choose between the various Street Fighter 4 versions of a character. If you want to play as Chun-Li, for example, you can select her build from a choice of the original 'vanilla' SF4, Super SF4, Super SF4 Arcade Edition, Super SF4 Arcade Edition ver. 2012, or the new Ultra SF4 version.

All those versions over the years have brought tweaks a-plenty as Capcom implemented new features and tried to balance things up. Of course, some characters fell foul of those tweaks, and Sagat was one of the more infamous casualties. Now, players can bring Vanilla Sagat back from the dead to Tiger Uppercut some wrongs - or, if they so wish, they can face off the weakest SF4 characters in history against the strongest. With Edition Select, Ultra SF4 looks to be a journey through space, time, and nerfs.

"Besides seeing matches that were never before possible, I'm also extremely excited to see what players with present day knowledge will be able to find out with the older versions of the characters," wrote Peter 'ComboFiend' Rosas on Capcom Unity. "I can only imagine how many times players have thought, 'If I could go back in time with the knowledge I have now, I would do so much damage.' Until a time machine is invented, this will have to suffice."

Capcom is releasing Ultra Street Fighter 4as an add-on for Super SF4 and as a bundle that includes Ultra SF4, Super SF4, and all the released Super SF4 costumes. The downloadable add-on arrives on consoles in early June for $15, and on PC two months later. The bundle is also due in August, priced at $40 on consoles and $30 on PC. [Image: Capcom]
