UPDATE - Definitely Mario Kart 8...

“@IGN: If you're a Nintendo fan, you should probably stay up tonight.” It's Mario Kart 8 guys. Call off the hounds. http://t.co/UHQ8RlAr23

— Jose Otero (@jose_otero) April 3, 2014

As far as we know, this tweet is related to Mario Kart 8 information. We've known for a few days now that a new blast of info is coming out this week. That's my guess for tonight. I'm doing my best to try and control the expectations!

Coming from Satoru Iwata...

I am here to tell you about our future, and to begin with, I would like to mention what Nintendo will not change.

Since the revision to our full-year financial forecast, there have been various reports and comments about us. However, we do not hold a pessimistic view of the future of dedicated video game platforms.

We therefore believe that dedicated video game platforms which integrate hardware and software will remain our core business. Naturally, we are moving ahead with research and development efforts for future hardware as we have done before and we are not planning to give up our own hardware systems and shift our axis toward other platforms.

We believe we can capitalize the most on our strength in platforms which integrate hardware and software. It is clear that, since we have developed products which integrate hardware and software, we were able to offer such devices as dual-screen Nintendo DS with one touch screen, and Wii Remote and Wii Balance Board for Wii.

what is whom talking about Nintendo's hardware market is fine. Well the 3DS is fine anyway.

Of course the same will happen to the Wii U. But it sure is taking it's sweet *crag*ing time. Pretty sure VirtualBoy is the only Nintendo console in history to never get a good library, regardless of how much time it took.

Reminds me of a time long past when you could just pop a game in, press the "on" button and play your video game on your *crag*ing video game system without having to wait for the entire OS to load in first. Clearly nintendo is stuck in the past.

Nintendo is leaving so much money on the table. They could be sending everyone to a dashboard to show you the Mountain Dew ads you pay $50 a year to download to your $500 entertainment machine.

Can't wait to see how they *crag* up yet another rehash of a good game. I'm confident they'll find a way though, they *crag*ed up Paper Mario and Chibi-Robo pretty well.

Coming from a Game Informer interview with Nintendo's Hiromasa Shikata...

GI: "We found Majora's Mask and another subtle reference to Link's Nintendo 64 adventure in Ravio's Journal. Are there any other Majora's Mask references that we missed?"

Shikata: "[Having Majora's Mask in Link's house] was a special request from Aonuma's production team. Now why would they ask us to do that?"

- standard VGC format: Double Battles, 4 Pokemon picked
- Pokemon only within the Kalos Pokedex are allowed
- Pokémon which have been transferred from Generation V using Pokemon Bank are not allowed
- Mega Evolutions & Hidden Abilities are allowed
- Illegally modified Pokemon are banned
Assorted_Cake_Projectiles

I find it funny that the main new feature of Pokemon X/Y will be the mega evolutions, and they are banned from the 2014 VGC's.

So...basically it's the 2013 VGC's but you can only use the Kalos Dex.

Assorted_Cake_Projectiles

Yeah pretty much. Mega evolution stats are pretty much Legendary tier.

But I felt that with the loss of a held item and the limit to one per team kept it balanced.

Im probably not parttaking in VGC's this year due to time constraints, but if I was I wouldnt be too mad about the mega evo's and hidden abilities ban. But it does feel a little annoying. We wouldnt be allowed to use anything brought from outside the KalosDex, and the new hidden ablilities and mega evo's are mostly what Gen 6 brought to the Metagame table. So stripping new mechanics essentially makes it last year's VGC's but with a few pokemon missing and a few pokemon added.

As for not wanting to deal with new things, there is a lot of time between now and the 2014 VGC's. That is enough leeway to do suspect testing (The VGC tier in Pokemon Showdown exists for a reason) to get a better feel of what is OP and what is not.

tl;dr:
I feel it's lazy and foolish to just ban everything new, and that is how real OP things fall through the cracks and end up sweeping the tournaments.

REDMOND, Wash., Oct. 23, 2013 – Nintendo is launching a new Wii U Deluxe Set that puts the focus on value, and highlights the two biggest names in video games: Mario and his brother, Luigi. Available in stores on Nov. 1, the Wii U Deluxe model will come with two games – New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U – all on one disc. The new configuration will sell at the low suggested retail price of $299.99, and replaces the existing Wii U Deluxe Set, which included Nintendo Land. For fans who want to experience the uproarious fun of Nintendo Land, the game can still be purchased separately in stores and as a download in the Nintendo eShop at a new low suggested retail price of $29.99, also beginning Nov. 1.

The beautiful, limited-edition Wii U Deluxe bundle that comes with a download code for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, a gorgeous GamePad controller adorned with art inspired by The Legend of Zelda series and a download code for a digital copy of Hyrule Historia is also still available at a suggested retail price of $299.99 while supplies last.

"Mario and Luigi are two of the biggest heroes in video games," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "This new Wii U configuration gives people instant access to not one, but two of the most well-received Wii U games. It's another example of the tremendous value and variety that Nintendo is offering consumers this holiday season."

New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U are two of the best games on Wii U. The games offer players two separate platforming adventures – one starring Mario and one starring Luigi – each filled with dozens of creative levels. Both Mario and Luigi control differently, giving each game a distinct feel and challenge. Both games showcase the refreshing originality and game play that can only be found on Nintendo systems.

Remember that Wii U features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other features, visit http://www.nintendo.com/wiiu.
