I just tried to use Mii and I'm doing better than I did with King Boo. His voice bothers me, though. And the fact that he's so tiny look strange.
EDIT: I made my Mii slightly taller (I think he needed to be a little taller, anyway) and it put him in the Medium weight, so now he's not really small.
