Yeah, binary, with 8 digits, which is, what, a byte? That converts to decimal 256. And I think 2-digit hex is the same, but that's possibly wrong or unimportant. That plus what everyone else said.

FF in Hexadecimal converts to 255 in Binary, so yeah.

btw, it's 11111111 in Binary. 100000000 is 256/100 in Hex.
