If Microsoft lost so much money on the 360 already, why are they still shoveling cash to upgrade and improve a 'failed console'?
Same goes for the Sony and the PS3. |

Also if this happened (in the off chance) its not like all the other devolpers are just gonna stop making games, theyll make them for the wii and ds |

If there's only one console, there wouldn't be any real point to it since Nintendo wouldn't even have to show any effort. Even if it's a load of crap games, it would be the only available games.
In all honesty, M'aiq believes that RARE would totally have to make a console if MS and Sony died off.
Seriously, they have Killer Instinct, Kameo, Perfect Dark, Viva Pinata, Jet Force Gemini, and Banjo in their leagues...not counting their older characters like Sabrewulf and Jetpac, of course. |

That's *crag* retarded.
Of course they lost money, Sony hasn't even been on the market that long with their console. and the360 is just starting to make money back so of course they haven't reaped that much yet.
Comparing them to WoW is *crag* retarded as well, because that's a huge monthly fee and Blizzard didn't have to develop, build, and ship a *crag* console. Comparing them to Blizzard is simply plain *crag* retarded.
I don't think people understand how the console business works, you are always going to lose before you make anything back. Microsoft was *crag* stupid because they completely stopped making original Xboxs. That is the worst move they could ever make.
Sony is still making PS2 money, and a lot of it. Don't you ever wonder why there is still a PS2 rack next to all the newer consoles?
Also, you are forgetting that Sony and Microsoft don't just make games. While their console sides may be in debt right now, their other business are making billions of dollars a day.
Remember Bill Gates? The guy that made the Windows thing? Yeah, that kinda still exists.
Nintendo, if anyone, is the one in jeopardy. They only make games, and if they cut off their fanbase like they seem to be trying to, it could be a huge determent to them in the next generation.
And also, a final note. This is the reason that consoles are going to switch to download services, like Sony is already trying to do.
Eventually, maybe consoles won't even need disk drives, that saves a *crag* ton of publisher money, and will end up saving the console makers a lot in the end too. |

I really don't care...can we just get back to the days where a furry hedgehog and a portly plumber were fighting each other for top dollar? When everything was cute and fun? Heck, even when you threw in a lab-reject bandicoot and an elf-kid was fighting a cloned super soldier, everything was still fun and good.
I just want mascots back. Mario is no longer Nintendo's mascot; Miis are. And they are PAPERWEIGHTS. Without one huge series to tide the turn of failure, all that the game companies are creating are a hole from which they can't dig out of.
Super Mario 64, Super Mario Bros, Crash Bandicoot, Metal Gear Solid, Zelda OOT, Halo...yes, Halo, even though it's pretty much the most basic and bland FPS on the market. Those are names that you can throw a console behind. They're dying.
So, in the end, I really don't care if Microsoft and Sony are going down the tube. And if Nintendo falls after 'ignoring its hardcore fanbase' for, like, half of a year, I won't really be sad.
It's just not fun to be a fanboy of a console anymore.
In short: who gives a shit. |

Also, the mascot era of gaming was a terrible era of gaming, as it gave rise to such crappy Sonic and Mario rip-offs as Awesome Possum, Punky Skunk, and Bubsy the Bobcat. No... we don't need mascots to return.
Games are becoming more cinematic and more artistic- and the industry needs to keep heading in that direction. |

More cinematic and artistic? M'aiq agrees with the artistic part, but do we really need more games with 40-minute cutscenes? 
If the game becomes what is basically a CYOA movie, M'aiq doesn't think it will be much fun at all. Sure, you could mean it as how some games have those special moves where you do a cinematic attack with button combos(Kingdom Hearts 2, God of War and the like) but you have to admit that will get annoying after a while. |

Not necessarily longer cutscenes, but more emotional, plot-focused, and better directed cutscenes. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, from what I've played, does a very good job of keeping the cutscenes entertaining while avoiding excessive length. Cutscenes are necessary in most games, but they don't have to be terrible. If more cutscenes were like FFX's "Yuna's Sending dance," they wouldn't be much of a problem at all. |

Ugh....I just don't like where the console market is headed...I enjoy the mascots and such...they were faces and names that kept gaming fun and alive and...everything just had a spirit, an uplifting beat to it. Changing it for improved storytelling...I just don't really like it. Yes, I can enjoy Metal Gear Solid, yes, I can enjoy any good storyline from a Final Fantasy game, but...I don't want them to be the dominant force. It's a fool's dream, but I need to dream it. |
