Despite all the advances consoles have made, the PC continues on as the ultimate gaming machine. The 2008 nom-nom-nominees are:

Spore - a multi-genre massive single-player online evolutionary metaverse game created by Will Wright.
Sam & Max: Season 2 - the latest Sam & Max adventure with many improvements
World of Goo - a charming puzzle game with a strong emphasis on physics
Left 4 Dead - a co-operative, survival horror, first-person shooter
Audiosurf - a puzzle/rhythm hybrid game, in which the track-like stages visually mimic the music the player chooses.
