He hears footsteps and turns, daggers at the ready... when he realizes it's just a puffball. He pulls a tattered hankie out of one pocket, quickly wipes down his weapons, and sheathes them, reasoning he'll clean 'em properly later.

...Disregarding the fact that that very line's what nearly got you tentacle-*crag*ed... D:
