EDIT: Turned out it was a mixtuure of backup files, file persmissions and poor Vista programming. Just freed up 43.4 GB :D

My lappy has two hard drives. C: seems to be fine, whereas D: claims to have 47GB of data stored on it, whereas looking inside at the total size of the files and folders shows there to be about 3GB used. Any particular reason why I have 44GB of used-up unused space?#

First image shows D: -> Properties; second image shows D: -> Select all (folders & files) -> Properties, which includes hidden folders

Iunno, but the extra space, you might want to run a disk defrag or a cleanup to clear some space.

I've tried both, with pretty much no results...
Thanks for the feedback though.

Then download CleanUp! and see what it does. It might solve your issues.

Could be that you don't have permission to see most of the files on D. So when you select all on D, you aren't actually selected everything.

I am the administrator of, well, everything on my lappy. Would there still be inaccessible files?

I'm thinking it has something to do with file backups- last time it automatically did one, the used up space increased.
