I'm fairly sure that this will be ignored, but I feel like I should get my word out anyways.
The current punishment system sucks. I'm sure you're all aware of that. There are no real punishments, Court is useless, and strikes are ineffective. Thus, I have thought of a five-strike system with punishments for each strike.
1st Strike: Warning
2nd Strike: 3 Day Ban
3rd Strike: 7 Day Ban
4th Strike: 30 Day Ban
5th Strike: 365 Day Ban
6th Strike: Permanent (Possibly IP) Ban
Different offenses may cause a higher strike to be given, even if the level before hasn't yet been reached. For example, a spam post may be a single strike, while a more serious offense such as posting a link to porn may give 3 strikes at once. Strikes wear off after maybe 30 days of no offenses after the ban is lifted.
The 6th Strike is really only to be issued if a person evades their 5th ban while it is in place in any way.
Feel free to ignore this, that's what usually happens anyways. Nothing too new.  |

The punishments seem a little harsh to me, although I'm a bit of a pussy when it comes to dealing with this sort of thing.
New users would be in big trouble very quickly, after 2 offences, which they may have been unaware, they will already have had a temp. ban.
Although this system would work great on 'veteran' members, I have to say. |

This could be effective, but we'd have to lighten up on the rules a lot and put a spamboard in place.
And I already know the response to that. |

Add a few jailing times in there, and it's good. Immediate banning after a warning is too harsh.

Ok, how about this,
One user gets a strike
everyone gets a strike.
One user gets a coin,
we all 1/1000th of that coin.
Every time one person dies
we all die.

I kinda like that idea, but perhaps it should be grouped into sets of three or five strikes for each punishment. |

I don't support Jail and never have. That's the reason why it's not mentioned up there.
As for lessening the scale of it, the only thing I can think of is making small things worth half or a quarter of a strike, but that would seem too complicated to make, really. Any suggestions on making it tamer? |

The SRB2 Forums ban you for a week after one strike.
But I digress.
How would you improve the idea, then? My main focus is punishment for each strike instead of punishment after 3 strikes. |
