Sonic is almost destined to be in it. It was mentioned on the Japanese forums and SEGA has signed a fourth sonic rights to a Nintendo game. We have secret rings, we have wild fire coming out eventually, they have the Virtual Console agreement so it's probably Smash. SEGA has more or less submitted themselves to Nintendo. It was one of the most wanted characters this and last game. I'd put money on Sonic being there.
Geno was also really high on the wanted list on the japanese forums. However Squeenix hasn't been too kind to Nintendo ever since they ditched them for the original Playstation. They've thrown some remakes of the games they already had on the hand helds. They have been throwing Nintendo random things on the DS though. Mana games. Oh and can't forget the wonderful crystal chronicles. Nintendo went to them and said "make us an RPG, heres rights to all our Mario characters. Now work your magic." The same thing happened with Disney. Squeenix still holds the rights to all the original characters in in Super Mario RPG and Kingdom Hearts. You won't see Disney using Sora without shelling out.
We can hope though. |
