I know this was in the Smash Bros. Update thread, but this news is so huge it deserves its own topic. Today's update confirms what we have been waiting for since the first Smash Bros.... online play!

Here is what we know so far:

Play With Friends - It uses friend codes like the ones used in Strikers. Up to 64 friends.
Play With Anyone - You can play random opponents. But there doesnt appear to be any ranking system.. yet.

There doesn't appear to be any communication except for short text messages assigned to your taunts.

You do get beat up Sandbag while waiting for opponents

Well it seems that there's going to be more than online battles. Oh BTW I loved those messages you can use during wi-fi with a friend. It's pretty good. Do you think there's going to be a minigame mode inside the Wi-fi mode? I think it may. Maybe the sand box thing you used in Melee. Or other minigames. I hope you get points and everything like in Strikers.

Do you think you may have online play during Subspace Emissary? I don't think so. I think it may be single player only. Or maybe not just single player but not Wi-fi connection, maybe a 2-player quest.

Again..I'm just guessing.

I was very pleased when I heard this. So much more then I expected. It was a great idea for the Brawl creators to create custom phrases to use as taunts. This will make people's attitudes change during gameplay, for some people. Also I've been thinking that the Wi-Fi includes four different players from all different areas playing at once. This is a feature that probably should have been added in Strikers Charged, only alows two people. This Wi-Fi announcement has been giving me great thoughts and a better image of the game.

If there was any Wii games with chatting over WFC, they would've announced a Wii Headset MONTHS ago, so it would be released alongside Brawl!
