no, we want the dump for stupidity, off-topic for neutrality, and this new one for mega serious stuff.

Won't work, because some things for the Off-Topic need to have a grey area.

You could make it so only mods and admins can give the power to go there, with having to be a good intelligent member to get in. Like on Smashboards.

It isn't necesarilly "off-topic" but it isn't on topic with anything else. Off-topic seems to intertwine with the dump. That isn't what the new topic is about.

No, that wouldn't quite work. The name "Off Topic" implies that it's a non-serious area... so either we rename off topic, make a new area, or change the Dump's name to Off Topic and then change the original Off Topic to serious discussion.

Well Off-Topic means its not Gaming, Anime/Scifi, or Geek Gear (or other site realated forums). It is not in the websites central topics, hence it is Off-Topic.

Do you have a better name that would encourage better discussion? I cant really think of anything right now

What about just, Other Discussion

I'm thinking either serious discussion or Real World discussion. Other discussion still seems like off-topic.

On a board I go to, they have Off Topic/ Random Stuff for, well, random stuff, and General Discussion, for (semi) serious stuff if that works for you.

Yeah, if we're talking about intelligent people making intelligent conversation, then serious like "death and taxes" would be a proper area.

We most literally have no area for this type of discussion. Discussing government, education, etc., is something I've not seen happen.

Also, I would advise that if this thing does happen, we don't have a religious discussion. Those NEVER end well. Trust me...

Is talking about SERIOUS things in a SERIOUS way something that we shouldn't be able to do on this forum, if so, tell me... otherwise, we should have a forum dedicated to SERIOUS discussion of SERIOUS things.
