Toadsworth was startled by the appearance of the Shroopa. It looked like one of the Medikoopas, but...

Did this mean that the Shroobs were turning innocent (and not-so innocent) people into Shroobs? Oh Stars above! Then that meant that the Shroob-being that had him prisoner was...

"Fawful! Release me at once!" he cried out as he attempted to break free.

Shrawful kept a firm hold on Toadsworth, pressing the cane slightly tighter against his throat in warning.

Toadsworth was in a dire situation. He knew that if he did not escape, he would either be drained of his vim (and thus turned into a Shroob Mushroom) or he would be turned into a Shroob-creature (probably a Shroobsworth) like Fawful and that poor Medikoopa...

"Release me!" he choked as his own cane was pressed against his throat.

Shrawful burst into laughter at that, a horrible, twisted version of his own high-pitched laugh, and started off towards the ship.

Shrawful snickered wickedly as he assisted Shrooparia in restraining the old Toad.
Partially to know of their next move- but moreso to frighten poor Toadsworth- he grinned wickedly at their prisoner before hissing at his comrade, &*%(^%&^%&? (Are we to have the draining of him?)
He knew Toadsworth couldn't understand him, but the evil gleam in his eyes should've at least hinted at his intent...
