Ampy was frozen stiff inside his tomb of status effects. He was aware he was in trouble, but couldn't quite break the hold that Sleep had on him. As he slumbered, he remembered of a time long past...
Deeper and deeper Ampy burrowed into the floating isle. As hard as he tried, he slowly realized there was no way to escape the cataclysm above.
"We're not going to make it, are we?" Kaze asked behind him.
"I don't think so," Ampy replied, "but that's no reason to stop trying."
He looked back at her for a second. Such a wonderful girl. It greived him to know she was going to be a victim of... no. There was no time for pity. He had to keep digging. Then maybe, just maybe...
Kaze let out a scream behind him.
Ampy looked back. He couldn't believe it.
The Void had already swallowed up most of the island. They saw nothing above them but swirling, black darkness. There really was no hope for them.
Kaze was first. The pull of the Void was simply too strong for her delicate grip on the ground. Ampy stared in horror as she was swallowed up, like the rest of his world was, like the rest of his life was. In that one, horrid moment, Ampy lost his grip. He couldn't let out a sound as he was swept into the darkness above... |

Speedster got up. "Ugh. What happened", he asked, grabbing his head. He looked to his left, where Ampy was sleeping in a block of ice. He pulled out a hammer and smashed the ice, breaking it. "Ampy! Wake up! We gotta go!", Speedster yelled, as he noticed Brain to his right. He grabbed out a hammer and smashed his ice chamber too. |

"Gack! Luigi! It's me-OOF!" Max felt a huge amount of pain as he was smashed into the floor like a fly caught in a flyswatter. "Ugh... I cant' feel my... everywhere!" He said as he morphed back into his normal form. |

"Eh... no hard feelings?" said Luigi nervously. "I've got one Mushroom left, if you need it..." He kicked up a cloud of dust with one foot, looking guilty. |

Daisy shuffled forward, looking confused.
"Tee hee... wow, what happened?"
Luigi looked at her. "Uh... you could have maybe helped during that little tussle we had back there..."
Daisy blinked a couple of times. "What? Oh yeah... I was off picking flowers, sorry!"
"..."
"Well, shall we go?"
Luigi nodded. "Right... come on, guys!" He set off, still looking at Daisy with slight annoyance.
Eventually they came upon the base of the massive Dotwood Tree.
"Wait, this is it!" squealed Daisy suddenly. "That Dotted Tree, or whatever the thing called it... this little floating guy told me there was an exit from the Bittylands here! If you just climb up and ride the red wind... thing..."
Luigi stroked his chin. "Hmm..." |
