I was watching something about somebody going to jail for theivery... And the thing they "stole" was an award that was supposed to go to another person. The person accepted it during some ceremony when he was mistaken for the winner, not actually stealing it.
So, I have a question for you all... Would you accept an award or something if it wasn't rightfully yours? Without taking punishments into consideration.
I probably wouldn't, unless it came with a lot of cash. Yay for being a greedy bastard. |

No. Never. I would never take something that is not rightfully mine. |

it would actually depend on the award. If its money then I will take it, as they can't really take it back, even if they try to track you down it mostly ends up failing. I would probably spend 1/4 of it on the day I get the money. Besides, who wouldn't accept money? Now if its some pointless award like a certificate or a pencil, then I wouldn't accept it. In fact if the award isn't anything but money, I wouldn't accept it. But if it was a Plasma TV screen, then thats another story. |

Nah, I wouldn't. Even if for some reason, I knew that I would never be caught, I couldn't live with myself if I knew that I stole something on purpose. |

Too much conscience for me to even fathom doing so. |

I've actully entered one of these situations, which I had to do the right thing. My friends were playing a few games inside of the classroom, and I was losing (I was around 3rd place, this was a classroom game where the whole class played.) The game carried on, and the teacher left the room and he told us to continue playing the game. I come to second place, and when the bell rings, the teacher comes back and asks us who won? Everybody points and me, saying I won, and then the teacher rushes to his desk and gets out the extra credit point papers. He was about to hand it to me, but I told him I couldn't accept it, and I told him the truth. I wouldn't have mattered if I had gotten the extra credit or not, because I really wouldn't have needed it.
If I was in a situation similar to this, again, I would immediately take action, and say that it was the other person who deserved the award. No matter how large, or how expensive the prize is, I would still give the prize to the rightful owner. |

If it came with money or something valuable, I'm not going to lie, I'd take it. But if it was something like a trophy where the only real value is the fact that you earned it, then what's the point? |

True that. Often if I point out mistakes, they say "That point's the reward for your honesty. Congratulations." |

My teachers are like, "If I graded something you got wrong as correct, don't tell me, or I'll mark it wrong." :| |
