Truly, after reading Lord Crump's posts, there are only two logical explainations why you'd argue for keeping OT:
1. You're extremely prideful (Ultimario).
2. You enjoy spam (Not Ultimario).
Crump's changes, as usual, are 100% supported. |

Why should we do that?
I like being a regular person and talking about life. |

no...no...no... OT is my like second favorite forum. a place to be social. a place to kick back and have some fun chatting to other members. a place where you can have a little fun and talk about slightly senseless things like your favorite flavor of chips. where you can talk about the shweet new yoshi plushie you got. a haven for the posts in between general discussion, and the place where you guys move our posts when they disappear.

I very much agree with many of you here on the subject of Off-Topic. I had a set of ideas, that I hope some of you may agree on.
Off-Topic, in my opinion, should be changed to Casual Discussion. It doesn't have to be like General Discussion, but we talk as if we were actually conversing with you. Random phrases wouldn't be said, random videos wouldn't be allowed. It would be a place were we can discuss anything, that doesn't need to go in General Discussion, casually.
As a solution for the YouTube videos and all the other videos, the Media forum could accept these videos. While the Media forum discusses Anime, Books, Movies, TV, Comics, it could also include YouTube videos. That way, we wouldn't have to see the Off-Topic having many YouTube videos, and if people are looking for good ones to watch, the Media is the place to go. There would also be some rules, on what YouTube videos you could post. This would help bring more members to the Media forum.
I agree with Lord Crump on a "War Room" forum for item war discussion. Though, there could be a general clan, led by the Elite Nerr himself, in which anyone could join as long as they were in a clan, and they could get invited into the "Nerr's Clan." This would allow them to enter the War Room and thus discuss war, items to use in the war, etc.
With this, as Lord Crump said, with the teams earning "points" for the clans, is a great idea. There could be series of games that clan members could face other clan members in, and all this could happen in the Star Carnival. There could be card games, in which the clan could bet some of their points. Also, other clan members from different clans can wager other people a certain amount of points, and they can face each other maybe in an online video game (such as Super Smash Bros or Mario Kart) or maybe face them in a user created game. With this idea, I'm sure that the Star Carnival would get much more attention, and can become quite popular. |

On EXEHQ they deleted off-topic and it caused only the spammers to freak out, but it did end the spamming.
I think with both Digiblogger and General Discussion it could definitely work. Especially if the "SERIOUNEZZ DISCUZZION" forum is made. Plus we still would have RPOT for people to screw around in, so I think the positives outweigh the negatives.
The negative is though that half the members will leave.
So, you know.
Whatever. |

And so is GD, Gaming, Media, and all of the other forums we have, as well as the chat box.

"Spamming" isn't true fun; you can kick back and have good, meaningful discussions in all the other forums this site has.
| Quote: | | a place where you can have a little fun and talk about slightly senseless things like your favorite flavor of chips. |
Stickied community discussion threads can be made to make up for that.
| Quote: | | where you can talk about the shweet new yoshi plushie you got. |
Stickied community discussions, again.
As far as I can see it, dividing Off-Topic will allow everyone to talk about similar stuff that they do in OT, but in much greater efficiency. |

Personally, I think we should have a Serious discussion forum and a Light discussion forum. The Light discussion could be like GD with some OT in it, but will have rules. It is for discussing anything you want, and any spam in the forum will be striked. The serious discussion forum could be like some sort of a debate forum. |

This is a good idea. With the division of Off-Topic, and changing GD into something with lighter rules (Although not as light as OT) and adding in a pure Serious Discussion forum would probably solve the problems associated with removing OT. Everything in OT (Except for spam) could be discussed with greater efficiency, as there wouldn't be one big forum where topics and posts can get lost in, and activity in the rest of the forums would see an increase.
And, I don't think a very large number of members would be lost if this ever does happen. When The Dump was removed, most of the regular members remained, if I remember correctly. |

Though I don't see in SSG's suggestion where does my game go. |

Maybe we should have a forum dedicated to forum games? |

Maybe we should have a forum dedicated to forum games? | I know a forum like that. They have an Casual board. And then the sub-boards are "Forum Games" "Important issues" "workbench" "Nerd's hide out" (Pretty much the spam forum, except your post count doesn't increase ) And "Member Issues" Which is sort of our blogs. :D |

Yes, many forums have a section specifically for forum games. Why not make the Star Carnival home to forum games as well? |
