Alright, I just completed Mass Effect on my 2nd character. One of them ended as good, or "Paragon" as possible, and the other being a ruthless Renegade.

Now the thing I don't understand is this: BioWare confirmed that Mass Effect is the first game in a trilogy, all of which will follow Commander Shepard's journey. Players of Mass Effect 2 will be able to load their Mass Effect 1 data to continue the story directly where they left off. The thing I don't understand is HOW? There are so many outcomes for so many things in this game, it's hard to believe there will be so many starting paths for ME2.

Alright, this is spoilerific, so highlight at your own warning. This is a summary of some of the main-story events that occured.

I recommend you stop here if you plan on playing the game sometime.

Jason Shepard:
The Rachni, an ancient race of insect-like beings, were set free. The Queen promised her full gratitude and went on a different path from her ancestors.

The colony on Feros was saved. Thanks to my persuasion, ExoGeni Corp. promised to keep funding the colony.

Dr. Liara Tsoni was rescued. I'm not sure if there's any alternative to this part.

Wrex begins to question whether he is on the right side,I convince him we are on the right side.

Kaiden gave his life to make sure a nuclear warhead was armed, and the facility on Virmire destroyed.

Captain Anderson knocked out the human Ambassador to help me. Obviously Udina hates Anderson more than he used to now.

Hooked up with Ashley Williams, unlocked the Paramour achievement. Wink

I told the Alliance Fleet to rescue the Citadel Council before concentrating on Sovereign. A load of soldiers died in the process.

Humanity joins the Council, I reccomend Captain Anderson and the councilors accept him as the representative of humanity. Udina is put out of a job.

Bwgmon Shepard:
Upon finding the Rachni Queen, I killed her, commiting genocide on the warlike insects.

Feros just made it by. Many colonists were lost thanks to the incident, but ExoGeni decided to help the colony rebuild.

Dr. Liara rescued.

Wrex questions his alleigance. Similar to above, I persuade him through intimidation rather than charm this time.(In other words, I was being sorta manipulative and demanding)

Kaiden was rescued. This meant that Ashley's group never got their support, and she dies at the facility.

Captain Anderson invades the C-Sec office to help me. He gets injured in the process.

Got together with noone.

The Alliance Fleet is ordered to concentrate on Sovereign, and ignore the Council. As a result, the Council dies.

With the council dead, Udina plans to remove the old system, and replace the multi-raced council with an all-human council, claiming that this is the only way to convince the alien races to unite against the threat of the Reapers. Captain Anderson agrees, and after failing at dissuading them, I tell them I won't recommend anybody.

That's just major plotline material there, not including sidequests relating to research on geth technology, prothean data, material scavenging, wiping out crime syndicates, and ending a renegade team that threatened several systems. How will Bioware do it? How the hell will Mass Effect 3 be possible with all the branches from Mass Effect 1, which will each be further developed on in Mass Effect 2?

One will be the canon ending and this will not be determined until the release.

Or it will be something completely different.

But can it make sense? You'll load your character directly from the end of ME1. It would be pretty strange for [blank] to suddenly happen when [blank] actually happened. It would be understandable if some of the events were only mentioned in the news, like what happened on Feros, because the outcome of the colony doesn't appear to effect much more than a colony on a near-inhabitable planet and the stock changes one company would recieve.

Believe me, they'll do it. They have no excuse not to.
