A new trailer posted by VicioJuegos reveals that wrestler/mayor/shirt refuser Mike Haggar is joining the inter-universe battle in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 -- the last of the three Final Fight protagonists to appear in a major Capcom fighter. His moves include a lot of stuff that should be familiar to Final Fighters, including a big swing of a pipe and a super combo made entirely of a single, repeated punch. Haggar appeared on the leaked roster we had, offering some support for the authenticity of that list.
Another trailer reveals the inclusion of Phoenix -- not the lawyer, before you get too excited -- the unstable version of telekinetic X-men character, Jean Grey. She wasn't on our leaked roster. See both trailers after the break.

The differences between Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 are startling to me. Sinking some time into a near-final preview build, I've found that the new iteration of Capcom's beloved series feels different from the decade-old classic in key aspects of design. Should the developers fail to address certain concerns I believe others would share, I fear Marvel vs Capcom 3 won't be "so pringles" as its predecessor.
First and foremost, I've noticed that MvC3 is a lot slower than the previous game. The fights seem to creep along at a more mundane pace this time around. It just doesn't feel like Marvel vs Capcom.

Neither Capcom nor Marvel has yet to announce an official comic tie-in for forthcoming fighting game collaboration Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but a portfolio posting by comic artist Kevin Sharpe indicates that just such a product is on the way. Sharpe's images seemingly reveal both Galactus and Taskmaster (aka "that guy who looks like Skeletor") as appearing in the game -- we already had Taskmaster on our leaked list last month, and it's possible that Galactus (the planet eater) is a boss character.
Sharpe's image gallery has since been removed, but Shoryuken has all the pertinent images hosted on its website.
Also, we know we're supposed to suspend disbelief with the whole superhero thing, but the idea of Chris Redfield challenging the Hulk with a shotgun seems even more comical than his tree-trunk biceps.

Given the slow, slow drip its developers have had us on since the game was first announced, the recent release of the Achievement list for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 represents one of the biggest info bombs we've been hit with so far. While the list doesn't do much to confirm any rumored characters (though the "Fate of the Satsui no Hadou" certainly seems to hint at the inclusion of Ryu's near-clones, Ken and Akuma), it does reveal some features which have made it into the final cut of the game.
For instance, the "Combat Specialist" Achievement mentions a player level progression system, while "A New Avenger" and "Passed the Field Test" reference a Mission mode, which will presumably assist in the aforementioned progression system. Check out the full list of Cheevos after the break for more even speculation fodder.

Here's evidence of some impressive attention to detail over at Capcom: a Marvel employee, Chris Baker, helped Capcom come up with alternate color schemes for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 that were appropriate to the comics, (mostly) avoiding the "mango Sentinel" variations in favor of costumes that make some kind of canonical sense.
With Baker's help, Capcom added some alternate costumes ranging from the familiar (Spider-Man's black symbiote costume, Iron Man's all-silver '60s "Tin Can" look) to the obscure (the "Iron Spider-Man" look, above, from the Civil War series, or Wolverine's suit from Age of Apocalypse). The costumes aren't perfect, since the shape of the 3D models can't be altered -- they can only be reskinned.
We said Marvel "mostly" avoided the random Marvel vs. Capcom 2 variants. There's one really important exception: a blue Magneto costume was added specifically as a reference to the famous "Mahvel Baybee" video. Old school!

We're pretty sure if we were given only a handful of characters and stages from Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds in a free trial, we could stretch out our enjoyment of it for an awfully long time. We won't get the opportunity, however: In a recent post on the Capcom Unity forums, VP of Strategic Planning Christian Svensson confirmed to anticipatory fans that, "As with Street Fighter IV, there will be no demo of MvC3."
Svensson also responded to a few fans theories about yet-to-be-revealed fighters, and also defended Capcom's decision to sell downloadable characters, stating "DLC is part of the business model these days given the massive costs of production and can be the difference between a profitable product and an unprofitable product." Oh, wait -- that's gotta be another hint, right? An unprofitable product? That's like, pretty much confirmation of the inclusion of Dark Void protagonist William Grey.

Capcom has confirmed the launch date alongside the Special Edition, which Gamestop outed early this morning. The Special Edition, which contains a steelbook case, a prologue comic, a one-month subscription to Marvel's online comic service and a download voucher, signals the game's first DLC characters.
Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath will become available for purchase and download four weeks after the debut of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but you'll get them for free if you grab the $69.99 Special Edition.

The full list of starting participants in next year's cross-dimensional fight club, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, has yet to be officially confirmed, but we've already learned of two late, downloadable entries: Resident Evil's almost-sandwich, Jill Valentine, and the optometrist's grotesque nightmare, Shuma Gorath. According to a Gamestop listing, both combatants will be available four weeks after the game's launch -- an included download voucher grants free access to Jill and Shuma if you purchase the Special Edition.
The Special Edition also includes a steelbook case (embellished with "exclusive artwork"), a one-month subscription to Marvel's online digital comics service, and a prologue comic that will spend 12 pages attempting to explain the head-butting contest between two fictional universes.
