The Indie Royale Xmas Bundle 2.0 is live today for one week, offering the following six games for the "minimum" price possible, or whatever you want to pay above that: Colour Bind, Offspring Fling, Serious Sam Double D, Serious Sam: The Random Encounter, Puzzle Bots and Little Kingdom.

The bundle includes a free, award-winning game from Offspring Fling developer Kyle Pulver, called Namiko, and pay $8 or more to snag the Rhythm 'n' Bits album from Yoann Turpin. All of the games are available on Steam, except for Little Kingdom and Namiko, while Offspring Fling is the only game available for Mac and Linux as well as PC. Get bundlin'!

Indie Royale is hosting a lightning deal over a span of 100 hours, serving up five indie titles from one niche franchise -- Serious Sam. The Indie Royale lightning deal includes Serious Sam: The Random Encounter, Serious Sam Double D, Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack, The First and Second Encounter and the world premiere of Serious Sam: The Greek Encounter, an 8-bit top-down demake.

These indie homages to Serious Sam launched alongside Serious Sam 3: BFE last year, each taking a different approach to revamping the franchise. The Indie Royale lightning deal marks Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack's premiere on PC, previously being a mobile title. As with all Indie Royale deals, the earlier you buy, the cheaper the minimum price -- although people paying more than the minimum can bring down the price for everyone. So don't put down those scissors or those bombs, and run like lightning!

I wonder if many other publishers will follow in Devolver Digital’s path of hiring a bunch of indie developers to create a smattering of tie-in games. I know there’s the requisite Facebook/iOS game, but none has gone as far as those offering us Serious Sam 3: BFE next month (if they can stop delaying it). We’ve had Double D, and Kamikaze Attack. And now comes Serious Sam: The Random Encounter. And wouldn’t you know it, it’s fun. Here’s Wot I Think.

What would Serious Sam look like as a turn-based RPG? A little something... like this.

While Serious Sam 3: BFE is only a month out, you can satiate your need for utter ridiculousness with Serious Sam: The Random Encounter (or play Serious Sam: Double D right now). Releasing on October 24th, this RPG-Shooter hybrid looks insane, with 16-bit takes on classic Serious Sam enemies. Serious Sam: The Random Encounter will be released on Steam for $4.99.
