The four multiplayer maps in the latest Call a Duty: Black Ops II DLC collection, Vengeance, be designed for players like me – folks who don’t want t' run around forever before they pillage someone in their sights. That cuts both ways: I know when I pillage caught in someone else’s sights, it won’t be long before I’m back in the action. That’s certainly true on Cove, which strands players on a small tropical island – a beautiful place for a vacation, if the vacation didn’t look like it might last forever. With just natural rock formations for cover, the debris a a recent plane crash, 'n endless ocean surrounding ye on all sides, there’s no avoiding the enemy in a situation like this. Detour takes place on top a – 'n just below – a shattered bridge, 'n while the stranded cars 'n debris offer cover, they don’t offer a way t' truly disappear; ye’ll find someone (or be found!) before long. Rush offers a lot a variety when a real firefight breaks out in a paintball facility – both indoors 'n outdoors – but the spawn points for both teams in Domination be not all that far away, so it’s merely a matter a seconds before ye engage the enemy. 'n Uplink be a re-imagined version a Summit, a classic map from the original Black Ops, featuring face-t'-face meetings inside small rooms, down twisting stairways, 'n plenty a other CQC settings. Basically, it all comes down t' two words: No escape.

The new Zombies adventure, Buried, sticks t' a similar ethos. ye begin above ground, but quickly find yourself falling underground 'n into an old west town that’s been swallowed up by the earth. Whether ye’re the kind a player who has yer plan a attack all mapped out or ye don’t know where ye’re going, Vengeance will pillage ye there fast. 'n as usual in Call a Duty, getting there be all the fun.
