From October 8-14, players can download personalization packs, which offer a calling card, weapon skin and three targeting reticles, from the Xbox Marketplace for 25 percent off. All profits generated during this sale will go toward the Call of Duty Endowment.

"With this drive, we continue to pledge our support to the Call of Duty Endowment in support of veterans, and really appreciate everyone in our community who contributes to this great cause and gives back," Mark Lamia, Studio Head of Treyarch, said in a press release regarding the event.

Apocalypse, the final downloadable content pack for Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, hits the PlayStation 3 and PC platforms today, ending its month-long exclusive engagement on the Xbox 360.

The Apocalypse pack reunites the team from Call of Duty: World at War's inaugural Zombies map for its new Origins mode, which pits players against the undead masses in World War I-era France. The DLC also adds four new multiplayer maps: Pod, Frost, Takeoff, and Dig, the latter of which is a remake of the classic Courtyard map from Call of Duty: World at War.

Apocalypse is available as part of Black Ops 2's Season Pass, and is priced separately at $14.99.

There are two ways to look at Apocalypse — the fourth and final DLC collection for Call of Duty: Black Ops II. You might see it as the end of new multiplayer maps after a long, fruitful year of content. Or, you might choose to see it as the beginning of the Zombies storyline. Either way, you’re right.

Let’s start with Origins, the Zombies adventure that answers one of the biggest questions in Call of Duty history: how did all this undead chaos really begin? The answer lies in World War I, and the original heroes of the Zombies saga — Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo, and Richtofen — will be the ones who uncover that answer. With plenty of hidden surprises, a new song from Avenged Sevenfold, and giant robots that stomp across the battlefield, Origins is as satisfying as it is cryptic.

On the multiplayer front, Apocalypse delivers four maps worthy of the skill you’ve honed for months. Takeoff — a fresh take on the Black Ops fan-favorite Stadium — takes place on a remote launch platform in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, with statues and corridors that make you earn every sight line.

Pod takes place among the modern ruins of a 1970′s utopian village, its flying-saucer-like living quarters dilapidated and decayed as nature slowly reclaims its seaside locale. Dig, on the other hand, features nowhere to run and everywhere to hide – a maze of small walls around an archaeological site in Afghanistan, and a loving update to the classic World at War map, Courtyard.

And finally, Frost brings the snowy streets of Amsterdam to life, complete with majestic stone lion statues, a frozen river beneath a contested bridge and… a cheese shop? Why not? (Keep an eye out for the washer and dryer on this level, too.) Now that you have your weapons and loadouts dialed in, all four levels should provide ample challenge. This is your ultimate test.

Activision put together a little video tour of the fourth and final DLC pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, dubbed "Apocalypse." It's well worth watching if only to see a zombie inside of a mechanized battle suit, but we suppose it's also relevant context on the history of these additional multiplayer maps and background on the new Zombie variant, Origins.

Apocalypse will be available first on Xbox 360 come August 27. After a bout of timed exclusivity, the DLC will then become available on PS3 and PC.

It's not just the giant robot. It's the old warplanes. It's the rain. It's the Weird War Tales-style oddness of it all. This is a real Call of Duty scene from an upcoming zombies-mode addition to Call of Duty: Black Ops II. But it's just that. I'd go for a full game.Read more...

Apocalypse is the fourth and final DLC installment for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, landing on August 27 as a timed exclusive on Xbox 360. Apocalypse includes four multiplayer maps and a new Zombies mode, Origins, which Treyarch teased in a video yesterday.

Origins stars the four original heroes from the first-ever Zombies map - Tank, Nikolai, Takeo, and Rictofen - as they gallivant in a dieselpunk, World War I-era France that's been overrun with the undead. As the title suggests, Origins will explore the beginning of the Zombies storyline and features "a period-specific arsenal," including Wonder Weapons that harness supernatural powers. Just like the ones Pershing used.

The mech we spotted in yesterday's Origins video is a 1,000 foot robot that players must evade, along with all the zombie hordes.

The multiplayer maps in Apocalypse are Pod, a failed utopian community from the 70s, Frost, a wintry European city, Takeoff, a small launch site in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and Dig, and adaptation of the Courtyard map from Call of Duty: World at War.

The Vengeance DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is now available on PS3 and PC via Steam. Vengeance adds four multiplayer maps in Cove, Detour, Rush and Uplink. It also includes a new zombie map known as Buried, which has players traverse through a "long-forgotten subterranean Old West mining town infested with swarms of flesh-eating undead."

Vengeance will set players back $14.99, though the DLC is free for Season Pass holders.

One of the reasons I keep coming back to Call of Duty is the fast action – and the action is fastest on maps that really encourage interaction. When you know all the players are packed tightly together – when every corner you turn can lead to a high-caliber engagement – that’s when the game is the most fun for me. And I think it’s why maps like Studio, Hijacked, and Nuketown 2025 are voted up so frequently in multiplayer lobbies.

9414963672_cdbe51e39b_z.jpg

The four multiplayer maps in the latest Call of Duty: Black Ops II DLC collection, Vengeance, were designed for players like me – folks who don’t want to run around forever before they get someone in their sights. That cuts both ways: I know when I get caught in someone else’s sights, it won’t be long before I’m back in the action. That’s certainly true on Cove, which strands players on a small tropical island – a beautiful place for a vacation, if the vacation didn’t look like it might last forever. With just natural rock formations for cover, the debris of a recent plane crash, and endless ocean surrounding you on all sides, there’s no avoiding the enemy in a situation like this. Detour takes place on top of – and just below – a shattered bridge, and while the stranded cars and debris offer cover, they don’t offer a way to truly disappear; you’ll find someone (or be found!) before long. Rush offers a lot of variety when a real firefight breaks out in a paintball facility – both indoors and outdoors – but the spawn points for both teams in Domination are not all that far away, so it’s merely a matter of seconds before you engage the enemy. And Uplink is a re-imagined version of Summit, a classic map from the original Black Ops, featuring face-to-face meetings inside small rooms, down twisting stairways, and plenty of other CQC settings. Basically, it all comes down to two words: No escape.

9414964342_1869ffa4f5.jpg9412201665_821d84cc85.jpg

The new Zombies adventure, Buried, sticks to a similar ethos. You begin above ground, but quickly find yourself falling underground and into an old west town that’s been swallowed up by the earth. And that’s to say nothing of the mansion, or the maze…! If you think you’re getting out of here, well, that’s a nice thought – but at least you aren’t alone. Suffice it to say that you can make powerful allies in Buried if you learn the right motivations. I won’t spoil anything, but…use your friends wisely.

9412204189_44c7dc8862.jpg9414967012_d4c024d262.jpg

Whether you’re the kind of player who has your plan of attack all mapped out or you don’t know where you’re going, Vengeance will get you there fast. And as usual in Call of Duty, getting there is all the fun.

The Vengeance DLC pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops II is available today from the PlayStation Store for $14.99, but if you’re a Season Pass member, there’s no additional fee – just download the newest content from the in-game Store option in the multiplayer menu. You’ll also find a fresh selection of six Personalization Packs – each offering a weapon camo, a calling card, and three unique reticles – in the Store as well, for just $1.99 each.
See you online!
