Has it really been three whole years since I first registered here? Wow.

I can't say I've been as active as I would like over the past year - I find I've been checking in less and less lately. I don't have any plans on leaving, however. Digibutter is the one site that I've never had any intentions of leaving, and that's not about to change.

I look forward to another great year here!

Did I miss anything?

Slim offered to host a 24/7 server a little while back, but until that gets set up I'm running a temporary server on my laptop. The IP address is 93.96.201.18, enter that into the multiplayer mode for Alpha and you should be able to get in (I believe Alpha is restricted to purchasers at the moment, so you'll need to buy the game if you haven't already). Be warned, there are a number of bugs (such as your inventory/chests/forge being lost on logout) and it won't be up constantly. Also, you can use /iron or /wood if you're running low on resources.

I know I've been making several games recently, but this one is remotely hosted and so can stay up 24/7.

If any of you have ever played Urban Dead or Wurm Online (You might be interested to know that the creator of Minecraft was originally a developer for Wurm) you'll have a general idea of what to do in this game, if not then feel free to experiment.

It's pretty basic at the moment since I have to code everything from scratch, but I'll be adding features and achievements regularly (hopefully).

Also, the beta key is currently 'welcometothenewworld' - I'm keeping the game in closed beta (just you guys and some of my RL friends) until I've got a few more features done.

I made a simple base before lagging out and trapping my self in virtual limbo while trying to fix it. In the end I gave up and disconnected.

I just got a reply from Crazy Spai, his hosting service is down for good. Which means we have 3 options:

1. I host it occasionally on my home PC like I did originally.
2. I manage to find another free host.
3. I fork out enough money to purchase a commercial host (unlikely considering the amount of money I have and the rate at which I get it).

Can't guarantee a 24/7 server (still trying to contact Crazy Spai) but I could run one occasionally on my own PC if need be.

You may want to avoid FPSBanana for a while, it's been infected with a rather persistant virus.

My host moved the server to the dedicated VPS, and the url changed in the process.

I downloaded a custom server which supports a whole lot more stuff. As always, it'll only be on when I can run it, but I'm open to suggestions if anybody has any. For builder rank, either post your minecraft username here or talk to me in-game.

Seeing as the old one's been taken offline, I thought I'd try my hand at setting up one myself.

It'll almost certainly be up whenever I'm using the computer. I'll see if it's possible for me to run it 24/7, but I'm making no promises.

It doesn't make much sense to have it on constantly with nobody playing it, so I'm considering switching it with a Gmod or TF2 server which might get a bit more activity from people inside and outside digibutter. Which leads me to my question: Would you guys prefer a TF2 server, or a Garrys Mod server?

I downloaded a 2D MMO creator and am trying my hand on creating a game with a Digibutter/Bitlands/SPM theme. I am currently looking for help in the following areas:

• Mapping - The engine uses a built-in map editor, so this part isn't too complicated.
• Spriting - This is where I need the most help, since I suck at spriting.
• Hosting - Currently the only way I can host the game is via my home PC, which means I won't be able to run it 24/7. If anyone knows of a free/cheap host that allows the running of servers and programs (specifically, a windows executable), please let me know. (Francis may be able to host, but he's very busy at the moment and hasn't been able to try yet.)

I've tried doing things like this in the past but they've always failed for various reasons. Provided there's enough interest on the site however, this might actually work.

If it's a fake then it's very well made.

My only regret is that most of the major events and parties took place while I was asleep.

In light of Francis' plans to split Digibutter into several different sites, I decided to create a 'hub' page that could be used on the nerr.biz index. Each link to a section of digibutter can be customised to make the link and it's background fit the theme of the site it links to.

We all remember Digibeta.nerr.biz, back when Nerr 1.5 was still under construction and not ready for general use. What I'm suggesting is to bring back Digibeta, but with a slightly different goal; user info (but not posts) would remain constant across both sites, with Francis adding any new/incomplete features and abilities onto Digibeta. This would give members a chance to play with the new features earlier than they usually would, as well as comment on them and offer cruicial feedback and advice before they are released onto the main site, hopefully ensuring that the features are all fun and useful from the word go.

Comments?

Normally when you enter a url on this site which doesn't exist you get an 'Unable to complete request' error. But when you enter the above url, you instead get a 'Page forbidden' error. I don't think this is just a remnant of old Digi, since I couldn't find any links to a shop directory on the old site.

Speculation?

I've had no internet or telephone for the past four days, which I have been told was due to somebody stealing a phone line and thus wrecking the phone network across a moderate area.

Did I miss anything while I was away?
