Chapter 12 – The quest for the missing kitty

Mario stepped forward. He was really nervous; he had to find the “kitty” and the exit.

Mario: So Merlee, where’s exactly your “kitty”?
Merlee: It seems that he’s at the exit of this labyrinth. Please bring him back!

Mario could hear the kitty at the very end of the labyrinth.

As Mario went though the labyrinth many strange things started to happen. The plants…He could hear them whisper. Probably some Crazee Dayzees.

It seemed that it was taking hours for Mario to find the kitty. Mario was about to give up when he so this shadow. It was a sleep, but it didn’t look like a kitty. It was much bigger as bigger as a…Gnaw! That’s the kitty a Gnaw!

“It won’t be easy to exit” Mario thought as he saw the Gnaw guarding the exit.

He walked silently towards the Gnaw. He would jump the Gnaw to the exit. It was the only way. He jumped as high as he could but he didn’t make it. He jumped over the Gnaw and woke him up.

Gnaw: Guar guar! Roar!

”Hmm…Let’s try with the hammer” Thought Mario.


Mario took his hammer out and was about to hit him when he heard a song from his back.

There was no one; he turned back to the Gnaw. To his surprise the Gnaw was sleeping again. “But how?”

Hayzee: We put him to sleep. He’s no enemy; he’s just tied.

Mario looked backwards and saw a group of Amazee Dayzees.

Mario: But who tied him up?

The Dayzee called Hayzee stepped forward.

Hayzee: It was Merlee.

Chapter 13 –Mimics

Mario was confused. Why would Merlee tie his Gnaw here? Why would she ask Mario to find him when she knew were he was? Couldn’t she come by herself?

Hayzee: That Merlee you saw; it’s not her.
Mario: Huh? What do you say? I saw her with my own eyes, that’s Merlee.
Hayzee: Not everything we see it’s true.

Mario remembered the Excess Express, when all the passengers
were duplighosts.

Mario: I believe you, but if that’s not her…Who is she?
Hayzee: We believe that she could be just another duplighost. Or maybe…
Mario: Maybe what?

Hayzee stared at her friends and then at the ground.

Hayzee: Maybe it could be Mimi.
Mario: Mimi? But she became our friend, our ally. It’s not pos-
Hayzee: Let me tell you the story of Mimi. Merlee had gone to work at Flopside but she had so many troubles she had to return. She had put in charge Mimi, who was working for her as a maid since she left her mansion. When she came back she saw the house completely...Destroyed. Well it was a mess! Mimi had made a birthday party and well…It was a complete disaster for Merlee. When Merlee knew all about the party she fired Mimi immediately. Mimi was furious and started to throw rubees at her but Merlee’s power was greater and Mimi was defeated. Mimi left the mansion but we saw that she hadn’t left at all! We saw she had returned to the mansion. And since then we have seen Merlee act strangely.

Mario: I understand, but how can I go? The Gnaw is still here.
Hayzee: You have to let him free.

Mario obeyed. He untied the Gnaw and left the labyrinth.
He saw as the Dayzees waved at him.

Hayzee: Good luck Mario.

Chapter 14 – Merlee’s Mansion

Mario stepped inside Merlee’s mansion. He headed towards the crystal ball as he had done before, this time nobody was around.

He saw a door, he entered through the door. He saw a large living room and lots of doors.

”Wow, it hasn’t changed since I last came” he thought

He stepped inside one door. There was just a table, a TV, some chairs and a portrait of Merlee in the wall.

”HELP ME!” someone cried

Mario: Huh? Who said that?

”HELP ME!” the voice said

Mario: Who’s there!? Merlee? Mimi!?

No answer. He kept going an examined the portrait on the wall. It was Merlee sitting in a chair. Probably in this same room.

He kept staring at the portrait.

”MARIO!?”

Mario: Huh?
Merlee: MARIO!? Did you find my kitty!?
Mario: Oh…Huh, that Gnaw you say?
Merlee: Yes, my little lovely Gnaw.
Mario: Yeah I find him and I let him free, he’s probably in the garden. But tell me, why did you tie him up there? And if you knew where it was, why did you ask me to find it?

Merlee was really nervous this time. He began to cough and suddenly she screamed.

Merlee: DAMN it! How did you possibly get it!? It was THE perfect plan.

Merlee suddenly transformed back to her true form.

Mario: Hmm…So the Dayzees were right, long time no see Mimi.
Mimi: Oh those Dayzees!
Mario: Now tell me! Where is Merlee!?
Mimi: OH Mario still so dumb. You just saw her.

She grinned. And pulled a lever that appeared from nowhere.

Mario shouted “NOOOOO!” and fell into darkness.

Chapter 14 – Mimi’s Cage for Dummies

Mario fall intro darkness. He couldn’t hear nor see anything…just darkness.

When he finally hit the ground blood came out of his head. He was dizzy for a while till he saw someone.

Burglar #1: Hey mustached guy, are you ok?
Burglar #2: Of course he’s not ok Pete. Now help me here.

They both put him up and tried to clean his head from all the blood.

Mario: W-where am I?
Burglar #3: You’re in “Mimi’s Cage for Dummies”.
Mario: Huh? Oh that Mimi!

He sat in the floor.

Mario: Now I’m trapped in here. I need to save Merlee and my bro.
Burglar #4: So what’s your name?
Mario: Mario. Is there a way to exit this!?
Burglar #23: Nope. We tried everything. We’re exactly a 100 guys trapped in here.

Suddenly a bright light appeared.

Merlee’s sprit: Mario you must help me! I’m trapped in that awful painting. I can help you get out of here but I’ll need the help of the 100 burglars in here. Will you guys help Mario and me? I promise I’ll help you later.

Burglar #45: Hmm…Trust a spirit? I don’t think so.
Burglar #39: Do we have any other chance John!? C’mon guys let’s do it.
Burglar # 51: Yeah let’s do it…What do we do?

Merlee told them exactly what they had to do. And in less than 5 minutes an extremely long ladder made by 100 burglars was formed.

Merlee’s spirit: Perfect!

Chapter 15 – Hall of Portraits

Merlee’s Spirit: Mario I don’t have much time here. You must go to the portrait and rescue me! It’s the only way! Please hurry!
Mario: Yes, I will Merlee.

Mario climbed the ladder of the 100 burglars and escaped from the cage.

Mario: Yes! I’m free! I must go to the room with the portrait of Merlee!

Mario ran through the corridor and entered the large door.

Mario: Huh!?

There was nothing in the room. No chairs, no table and no portrait. But Mario noticed something…A door!

He entered the door and for his surprise he was standing in a long corridor full of portraits in the walls.

They all belong to Mimi. They were all painting of Mimi.
Then he saw it. The portrait of Merlee.

Mario: There it is!

Mario was about to grab the portrait when he heard.

”Oh no you won’t!”

It was Mimi that had pushed him inside the painting.

Mario couldn’t see a thing…All black.

Mario: Hello?
Merlee: Mario, over here darling!
Mario: Merlee! I’m sorry I didn’t notice…
Merlee: Oh don’t worry darling, this things happen.
Mario: How can we get out of here?
Merlee: Perhaps “she” can tell you.
Mario: “She”? Who’s “she”?

Merlee pointed at a corner where a shadow stood.

Merlee: Her.

Mario stood up and head towards the shadow.
