The Count thinks that this is something important to talk about. Does everyone remember what happened on this day? The Count sure does.....and very well as a matter of fact...... |

Honestly, I couldn't care less about 9/11.
Sure, people died and all, but... I guess I have no right to complain, but it just gets annoying when everyone gets so depressed about this day. In fact, I'm going to be the only happy person in school today. xD; |

Bad people said some things and did some stuff and killed some people. And that triggered one of the biggest cess pools of hatred, racial intolerance, and idiocy that the U.S. has ever seen. 9/11 did exactly what the terrorists that day wanted it to do: it woke us up to a new, painful reality, and brought us to our knees, as pigs no less!
It's a disaster, and to honor the memories of the men, women, and children that died that day is a wonderful thing. However, when it's so forced down our throats that this atrocity was one of the biggest disasters in U.S. history, then we've gone too far. As a nation, the U.S. has gone through worse, but very few events have been emphasized to the lengths of 9/11.
I'll pay my respects, those who lost their lives deserve the shedding of tears, but I'm not going all melancholy because of something I don't remember that happened seven years ago. |

We were and are far from ever being "on our knees", Mister I. Racial hatred against muslims is a problem for muslims. Many of them say so themselves. The extremists have only brought hatred and problems unto themselves and the followers of the religion of Islam because of their actions.
I am sickened that you would call us pigs for their attack on our soil, which was only allowed to happen because of our unwillingness to simply shoot down the planes before finding out exactly what was going on.
I never was nor am I now "sad" or "melancholy". I am proud to be a part of this country, proud that we were never "brought to our knees", proud that we didn't fall apart, proud that terrorism and violence hasn't and will never be one of my fears, and proud that opinions such as yours are not in the hearts of a majority of United States citizens. |

CB, everyone remembers this day.
Everyone knows what happened and the number of lives lost.
I don't mean to disrespect the people or their families, but... I really try not to think about the deaths. It seems strange to me that whenever a single person or small group of people die horribly, they are respected and remembered for only a couple months, a year at most, and then they are forgotten by the general public (except for whenever some group wants to use the deaths in an argument, such as the Columbine Shooting). Deaths of tens of thousands of people, such as the 9/11 attack and the Holocast, are remembered for all time. Every life is precious, so why are the smaller groups forgotten?
...
Great. I'm tearing up. This is why I hate to think about death... Its terribly sad, especially when lives are ended in horrific ways.

Hey, I'm just disappointed in the decisions of the United States Government after that point. Also how 9/11 was used to sell a ton of country music albums, but...meh, that's not the point.
In the end, we've used 9/11 to feed the fire that's always been burnin' since the world's been turnin', and really, it just...hasn't done much good. We approach the day the wrong way, seeing it as a tragedy. Yes, the citizens rebounded, but the government fails to acknowledge that, and uses the day like a puppeteer to his marionettes, moving them in the correct directions with swift and precise strokes. And, slowly, that foundation of togetherness we had on that day has crumbled. That's what I meant, my apologies for not phrasing it better. |

If that's what you meant, then it should have been easy to say "Islamic extremists launched a failed attack to bring down the United States. A corrupt and idiotic Republican Bush administration then used the incident to sell a war in Iraq, a completely unrelated-to-9/11 issue." |

But, as a nation, the majority of us accepted those lies and went into the Middle East with our souls full of hate and our eyes burning with pain.
And that is why I believe it was a crippling blow: it was proof, a moral victory that began a large downward spiral.
But...on this day of such destruction, there's no need for such words to be exchanged. I'm just going to drop the issue and hopefully re-rail the topic.
*ahem*
9-11 was bad. It was a very bad thing, and many people lost their lives. They'll live on forever in our hearts, bless them. |

I believe that you are partially correct.
The "terrorists" wanted us to break down into fear and disarray. They also had their eyes set on other targets, such as the White House and Memphis bridge but failed to implement attacks on them. Even if they had, regardless, we are still a stable, functioning nation.
Now, one thing the terrorists aren't complaining about is the idiotic police action we're doing in Iraq.
Iraq is not where the extremists are based. Being there is nothing more than giving them a battleground on which to attack U.S. personnel. They are coming into the country all the way from Pakistan, Syria, and some parts of Afghanistan.
We need to quit spending money on this useless Iraq police action "war", and focus on the extremists responsible for the attacks on September eleventh.
In short, Hussein is dead, his regime is toppled, and the nation of Iraq, though destablized, is no longer a threat to our interests.
We should shift our focus to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, and politically isolating Iran.
That's my very-trimmed-down opinion. |

Like Warai said I could care less...I'm actually glad that nobody today at school including the teachers talked about it. Sure it's sad in all that a bunch of people died 7 years from this day but do we really need to make it a *crag* holiday? Wouldn't it be easier to have like a memorial service on TV instead of forcing us all to mourn over a terrorist attack? Thats pretty much letting the terrorists know that they succeeded in causing pain to the country, but thats just me. |

It's just so hard getting such a terrible event out of my head. Especially ever since my family had recieved the news that my cousin died in Tower Two once the plane hit the area around the floor he was on.
Completely incinerated.
I always show my respect by wearing a hat that says something related to "Remember - 9/11" on this day, every year.
It's just depressing. Even after one of my family members is lost. |

I mean no disrespect to anyone affected by 9/11, but I don't really care about it anymore. With the way most of America acts nowadays, I'm not suprised they did something like that. =/ |
