RPOT Events.
A backstory is put into place to act as a framework for character creation. Then everyone creates an alt to interact in the storyline and the event plays out from there.
For instance, I was thinking of making a superhero event where everyone would make a super hero or super villain and then start out on their own journey.
No one person would start knowing the other heroes or villains, unless specified I suppose, so it leaves everyone open to their own path through the story. Teams could be formed, heroes could find their own archenemy and vice versa, and an all out battle could ensue crowning the winner of either the side of good or evil.
And just to put the cherry on top, perhaps there could be some kind of frontpage post announcing the winner.
I'm still ironing out some finer details of where I want to go with this, but I think everyone can agree that this satisfies both the side that wants casual RP as well as the more hardcore RPers. |

Great Scott, I think he's got it! This would work out well for everyone.
This is a great idea... supported 100%. |

I guess it works fine. As long as it isn't obligatory, though. If it is, then there could be things like people angry over having to let go of certain character temporarily, or SPAMming out of the theme. |

Has RPOT ever been mandatory? |

Has RPOT ever been mandatory? | Not as in RPOT. As in the idea. |

You would be correct in making that assumption |

In that case, even though I have no plans on EVER playing a forum RP ever again (they played a major role in what led to my forum paranoia), this sounds like an excellent idea. Just make sure that if you appoint a mod for that specific forum, and he/she "screws up", you DON'T repeatedly give him/her second/third/etc. chances at redeeming him/herself; I have seen this before, and it only leads to driving RPers away. |

Imo, if someone doens't want to go to RPOT, don't make them. People will have their opinions, there's no way around that. |

Do people just not read posts anymore?
Is that what it is? |

If more people who often posted in RPOT gave you their ideas on this, then this would probably end up a good idea.
But we know the majority of them are off in RPOT paying no attention at all to some of your good suggestions.
._.
Anyway, I, too, am on the side of "maybe." I'm still thinking it over. |

Personally I was avoiding this topic because everytime I post in something RP-related outside of an actual RP forum, I get the whole YOU'RE AN EMO ELITIST train run at me. |
