A while back, in an interview about Metroid Zero Mission, somebody asked if the Space Pirates would have their own game. Maybe this is a result of that? Hopefully? Please?

IT'S TIME FOR SOME SPECULATION YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

If it does turn out to be a game (which I'm REALLY hoping it does), we can pretty much rule out it being a traditional Metroid title. A side-scrolling game in which you play as a Space Pirate really isn't interesting at all (and it would be pretty pointless).

That means that it's going to be either something in the vein of the Prime series, or a completely different style of game altogether.

Oh yeah, and there are SPOILERS for all three Prime games ahead, so beware.

People may say that there's not a whole lot of room for a Prime-style game as a Space Pirate, but, after looking back at some of the logs, I'd have to disagree. There's quite a bit of potential in there for a Prime-style game. From the first Prime, you've got fighting off the escaped Parasite Queens at the start of the game, capturing Metroid Prime itself (...well, assuming that's still canon, that is), and generally fighting off the wildlife. Not a whole lot, I admit, but that's why it's based on the entire Prime series.

Echoes has a bit more substance to it. There are ample foes to face on Aether; the Ing, the Galactic Federation, and, of course, Dark Samus herself. All three of these antagonize the Space Pirates throughout the course of Echoes, so there's plenty of material.

Corruption could go more in-depth with the war between the Federation and the Space Pirates, and possibly show the details of Dark Samus's domination of them.

For obvious reasons, the player won't actually fight Samus (except, possibly, as an unbeatable final boss or something), but it'd be neat if you could catch some glimpses of her throughout the game, or maybe hints of her presence.

It'd be awesome if you could play as Ridley...but that's something I just don't see happening in a game like this. >_>

If you play as one specific Space Pirate, I hope he actually has a name =P. Heck, even being able to name yourself would be fine...I just don't want to be "Generic Space Pirate #378434623".

Okay, that's all my thoughts on a Prime-style game.

Now, the only other possibility, I think, would be some sort of RTS-style game. I'll go more in-depth on that later.
