I think it would be a nice ability for people who start new topics to have the ability boot out people who are being annoying for indefinite amounts of time. Think of it this way. If you had a restaurant, and someone was bothering other customers, wouldn't you boot them out? Same basic concept. It's YOUR topic. If someone is being disruptive, and ruining the topic for others, kick them out. You could choose a time period for how long, ranging from a few minutes to permanently.

You may bring up the point that it's too much power, and that people will abuse it. Well...think of it this way. If you keep booting people out of your topics, eventually, people will stop responding to your topics. The topic will crash and burn, and you'll have failed the purpose of making your topic.

We could have a rule saying that you cannot boot someone without reason. I.E. they would have had to have done something IN THAT TOPIC which you boot them out of. So, you can't just get rid of someone because you don't like them.

Breaking the rule would consist of being jailed for [insert amount of time here] and continued abuse would result in having the function ability removed for an indefinite amount of time. After that, if one continued, then we could just ban them. I doubt they were useful at that point in time.

This could help reduce topics dying because of members who can't get with the program, and ruin the fun for other members. Specifically in RP forums, where people like to godmod. But it can also work outside of there, where people may just be acting like dicks to certain members within the topic.

I've seen sites with stuff like this, and they didn't end well. Just saying; there's a reason why most successful fan communities on teh interwebz don't have "topic specific" powers like this.

Not to mention that there is a more sensible, old-fashioned alternative. An ignore list.

A) Ignore feature would be better
B) Saving an additional list for every single topic would be retarded and memory-consuming
C) People would probably abuse it.

I think it should instead be a "vote to boot from topic", and if a certain number of people vote for it, than the person can no longer post in the topic.

There's a little button called the report button, if you click that you can have a mod deal with whoever's bothering you. No need for an "ignore list" or a "boot option".
