I think it was because, playing Mario 64 again and comparing it to Galaxy and Sunshine, the courses were much more compact and linear compared to the other two games. I liked just exploring in the Mario games, and seeing what I could find... in Galaxy, everything's pretty much force-fed to you, and you take it whether you like it or not.

And I hated the repetitiveness of the Bowser battles in Galaxy. In Sunshine, they saved Bowser for last, and in 64, they changed the fights around to make them interesting each time. |

You're right, Har. I love exploring as well, but in Galaxy, they made you move forward constantly. The only place that you could really, "explore" was the Observatory... |

You still can't go back to see something if you found it interesting. To me, in a Mario level, uniqueness > graphics > design. In Galaxy, everything was pretty much just SPAAAAAAAAAAAACE. |

After I got the 242 Stars, I just stopped playing. It just got boring after that.
Like you said, in levels, once you go foward... there's no turning back. But, the game had it's fun while it lasted
But, one of the things I loved in Galaxy is the music. And thank God I have the whole soundtrack in my laptop. |
