Ok, I'm more confused than ever. I have been reading on the internet that she is a bisexual and in other places, a girl, a boy who dresses like a girl and an asexual.

In Japan, she's a he. However, some debate that she is a girl being called a man as an insult or something like that...
In America, she's a girl. I guess both can count. I like to think of her as a girl. Buh huh huh! |

Vivian is only a girl in the US because people are so sensitive about transvestites. But even though Japan has yaoi, a lot people (even some of the readers of yaoi/yuri) are against homosexuality.
Japan's a lot more perverse. |

Therefore, the entire Vivian character was changed.
However, it scares me about how much Vivian hits on Mario now. When I first played the game, it was all well, but now...if Mario did that...that would scare the crap out of all the little kids! |

Why not? It goes where a Mario character hasn't. Japan can, and that leads to great plot development. How many Dubs have diminished in quality due to the removal of some elements, including homosexuality? Many. It's a part of life, and Japan has willingly accepted that. |
