I agree, we mostly get the same franchise, and shitty movie games. It's hard to find somthing New and Hip. Why? Becasue all the game industys don't want to take a risk. It is our fault too. try spending your money on an unknown game that may look cool, instead of a sequal that you know will be decent. |

The thing is, continuing a franchise isn't that bad - it gives you a shell you know which still has room for new ideas. But all this third party oneshot crap flooding the market drown the few good oneshots which then wither before they had a chance to shine.

We've reached a sad point in time when Freeware games are more cool and inventive than most games being spewed out by the companies.
Even the big franchises use the same formula over and over. Now, I'm not saying it doesn't make a good game, it just doesn't make a CREATIVE game. |

People make games about gritty macho men shooting aliens while spewing cheesy one-liners because that's what people buy, and anything else doesn't sell nearly as much. IMO, we need more games like Psychonauts and Braid. |

Or some original ideas like LoM's Land Make system, weapon CREATION (Not just changing the heads, but actually designing), and a whole bunch of other stuff. Maybe I'll go into the gaming industry and pioneer all this sort of stuff. What the industry needs is a group of people that understand the problem and push out something utterly new and never thought of before. |

You guys are obviously looking at the wrong games.
Here, I list good games now.
Castle Crashers
Bionic Commando (DA NEW ONE)
LittleBigPlanet
All the Pixel junk stuff
Puzzle Quest: Galactrix
Rock Band & Guitar Hero (considering how young the genre still is)
Left 4 Dead
Fat Princess (YES!)
Dead Space
Braid
AND MANY MORE |
